his faith was shaken. he had just got off the phone with very mad, very frustrated amanda summerfield. he didn't like any woman while she was angry. he already hated amanda, but having her mad at him was almost unbearable. it made him angry as hell, but then again...she was the one who had the baby. and the baby was worth it all. he put his hands in his face, his elbows on the table he was sitting at in the busiest time of the mall's food court. it was right at 12:30 and people were hungry. he normally would be picking up a girl, making her boyfriend angry, or have someone warm to come home with. but not today. well, as least for right now.
rhys holis was sitting here, waiting for amanda to bring him his infant daughter. why was amanda mad? one: she was always mad when it came to rhys. two: she was still angry he wouldn't actually re-marry her. three: he hadn't told her he had left mississippi...so now she had to drive an addition 7-8 hours to get to him. she was not happy. at all. but it had to be done or else rhys could press charges against her for not bringing him his gwendolynn. so, all was fair in love and war. he didn't want to be anywhere near amanda, not even in the same state as her. that part was obvious. the man had moved to kentucky!
she was due any moment. rhys kept his eyes on the entrance/exit right in front of him. looking through the glass doors, he could see the familiar cobalt cougar drive past the windows. "here comes the dragon-lady." he groaned unhappily but his eyes were bright and excited. the cougar passed the doors and rhys knew it was only a matter of time before the mother of his daughter (though he still refuses to admit it) walked through the doors. and five minutes later, right on cue, amanda walked through the doors. rhys had his breath taken away. it was times like these that made him remember why he had fallen in love with her, why he had encouraged her to have his baby, why he had chosen her as his girlfriend in the first place.
she was blonde and at the moment, drop dead gorgeous. she was wearing a classic black dress, a string of pearls around her neck, hair done, make-up flawless. she looked totally out of place among the casual kentuckians, especially with the baby carriage in her right hand and a pastel pink bag, obviously for the baby, slung over her left shoulder. rhys looked at her and gave a tentative smile. he was thoroughly amazed to see a bright, genuine smile put on her face in return. he flashed a white one back. when she reached the table, turning heads as she fought through the crowd, she gently laid gwendolynn's carrier on the table and the bag. "hey, sweetie! here she is!" she pushed back the hood of the baby basket and pushed down the blanket to see a baby girl that had to be on of the most beautiful infants on earth. a head of wispy blonde locks were on her soft head and vivid blue-silver eyes were staring up at their mother.
an infectious giggle came from gwendolynn and plump little arms were stretched out, wanting to be held. but when amanda went to pick her up, an upset squeal was emitted from the blonde infant. amanda's good mood was shot. she scowled fiercely and glared at rhys. "this is why i brought her so early! she cries all the time when i pick her up, even when i feed her! she's become a fucking psychotic bitch!" amanda's cheeks were flushed red with anger, her eyes malicious and jealous. at the cuss word in amanda's speech, rhys shot up, towering over her short 5 feet. his silver eyes glinted furiously. when rhys had gwendolynn, there was just some things people just didn't do, that he just didn't do. getting angry and cussing out his daughter was one of them. he tones were seething, teeth clenched. "leave. now. and don't ever, EVER, cuss in front of MY daughter again. i don't want her first words to be something nasty that YOU taught her. go."
babies were always so sensitive to mood changes. they understood things that the actual people themselves didn't seem to catch. gwendolynn's tiny mind didn't like the stress in the air. so she immediately began to cry big, fat rolling tears. amanda took on look at rhys, teeth bared, and then stormed away, her beauty totally gone. as soon as she had turned around and left the table, rhys deflated and calmed himself instantly. he looked at his crying daughter and immediately picked her up to comfort her. one large hand cupping her skull and the other cradling her body, his unshaven, bristled cheek was laid on his baby's head, which was located on his right shoulder. he bounced lightly, crooning her name over and over again.
but he had her since he had picked her up from her mobile cradle. she was quiet and content in her father's strong, capable arms. the 3 month old child's uniquely colored eyes looked at anyone and everyone. rhys whispered softly in her ear, "alexi, are you hungry? i am too! lemme getcha something to eat...ooh applesauce. it's your favorite, isn't it? yeah...i know." he chuckled and gwendolynn alexandria shrieked in delight at hearing her daddy's laughter. rhys sat back down and after searching the bag to find a small jar of applesauce, he sat her on his lap and began to feed her. she would be fed first. he'd go eat later. as he fed her, he hummed random notes to the tiny girl in his arms.

they know you're lonely, and they will only break your heartAND THIS MASTERPIECE WILL TEAR YOU APART
A sigh fluttered through Alexis, and in a sign of desperation and annoyance, she pinched the bridge of her nose. This was a new habit for her. And the sole reason could be her uncle. Well... that probably wasn't true. She had been having nightmares lately, but that was only when she was sleeping. But maybe this whole thing was a nightmare. Lord, that would be so much better the truth. But no, sadly this was reality. And in real life, her uncle had demanded that he come to town to see how she was doing. Saying that that was what her father would of wanted. Please. He was probably just wondering what was so good in Kentucky that New York didn't have. New York was a completely different world. God, he would hate this place. He uncle hated the great out doors. Dirt, fresh air, grass. You name it. It was ridiculous. Why was he even bothering? She could of just gone to him... But no. He was coming for a weekend (Maybe he knew he'd hate this place. He wasn't even staying a week...), and he demanded they find a nice place to go out for dinner. "Wear something nice. Not the jeans and shit you normally wear. I'll wire you money, buy something nice." "I can buy my own things, thank you." "I said something nice." Sigh, "Got it." So hear she was, wondering around the mall trying to find something nice. And what her uncle considered nice, had to be grand. Or at least expensive in general. He wouldn't even consider what she was wearing now decent. And hey, she was dressing girlie. She had a dress on, and that was a big deal. But she did look good today, on normal people standards at least. She had a pastel blue dress on that was the same color as the lighter hues of her eyes. It was flowy and summery, and probably look more like a girl than a woman, but she didn't mind. She had a cute pair of flats on in steel gray, which she had pulled out of the block. Never worn. She wasn't much of a purse girl, but this outfit demanded one. She could of tucked a credit card in her bra probably, but that was just tacky. Hahahaha. So over her shoulder she had a vintage Coach purse, black, which was also a gift from her uncle. She looked newly feminine and cute as her brow furrowed, looking in the window of Barneys New York. She had been in here before. Maybe not this one, but the one in New York. She knew she could find something there but, damn. She wasn't just up to it yet. Brushing her curly bangs away from her eyes, she huffed in annoyance and strode away. It was a popular time to be at the mall, and she was sad to say she was one of the any people drawn here. Funny how you could be disgusted at everyone in the food court, but when it came down to it, you were one of them too. Taking a toothpick full of something Chinese and tasty, she doubled around and got in line. Who was she kidding? When ever she went to the mall she had Chinese. It was probably a habit by now. Not like she went to the mall all that much... She spent $12 on some delicious chicken thing, and now she found that she had no where to eat. She had ridiculously bad timing. See, this is why she rarely went to malls. Spinning her fork around in noodles, she leaned against a pillar and found pleasure in observing. A beautiful blonde girl strode in to perch next to a man. She was sickly pretty, and that was probably the first warning to her horrid nature. When the smiling stopped, her face twisted and contorted, showing the uglier side. Most things beautiful had ugly insides. It was a pity that she had to be like that. She most obviously had a child, and she was just as inconsiderate with her daughter. Cursing in front of her? How crude! The woman practically tossed her daughter to this... well, rather attractive man. And she really felt bad for him. Not for the girl that may or may not of been his, but for the way the girls apparent mother treated them both. The attractive man seemed to adore the little girl, who was probably only months old. She didn't feel bad the man, he seemed blissful just with the small girl in his arms. What a simple pleasure. tagg; rhys , gwendolynn, self :] word count: who knows lyric credit: masterpiece theater ii - marianas trench graphic credit: - outfit: explained muse: well notes: hiya lovey :] credit: BABY DARLING ! @ CAUTION 2.0[/blockquote]

another thing...babies seem to know everything yet they are the most curious little creatures on earth. confusing? most definitely. and little alexi (al-ex-ee) was absolutely no exception. for a three month old, the blonde haired baby had wise eyes, like she had already seen the stars and the moon before anyone else. with those blue-silver optics, she was gazing straight at alexis. and alexis was watching her. and her father. her bright eyes closed and then snapped open again and she gave a scream of delight as rhys fed her the last of the applesauce and then picked her up to burp her, his tan hand tenderly patting her small back. he had long put a protective cover over his fitted gray graphic tee incase she spit up.
as he patted her, he felt his stomach growl. he couldn't exactly help it at the moment. he smiled to himself. it was a small smile. but then, something caught his eyes. the feeling to which he was alerted of alexis's presence was the sixth sense people had when they knew they were being watched. silver eyes turned and searched across the room. he caught several women looking his way, but none of them had that pensive stare that seemed to be driving him insane. and he wouldn't pay them any attention anyways. some of them were blondes. and he wasn't exactly too fond of those at the moment.
his gaze moved around and then he found her. he was met by some of the most beautiful blue eyes. they were almost an ocean blue. some deep color, rich. it was the eyes that caught him. and it was the body had held him in. what could he say?! he was a man. his silver eyes glinted mischeviously as he noticably check her out. body like a supermodel. thin. she didn't have the body type of his sisters at all. but she was beautiful. that part wasn't hard to see. getting the inspection out of the way, his silver eyes became clouded. why was she standing? and eating? perhaps... rhys holis looked around, still burping gwen, who's eyes were shut tightly now. she was just resting. she wouldn't go to sleep for a while. at least 2-3 hours.
there was not a single unoccupied table. in fact, every table except for his was filled up, every seat used. rhys's eyes unclouded and he gave the pretty young woman a smile. using his legs to scoot the chair back, he stood up, once again shocking people with his height. he turned his body and headed for alexis. as he came up to her, he asked casually, but his voice had a soft edge to it, being considerate to his baby. "i know i'm being forward...but uh, would you like somewhere to sit? it's just me, my daughter, and like four empty seats...i'll even letcha have the one beside me." he winked at her and then chuckled good-naturedly.
a southern drawl was totally evident in his words. but it had this spanish ring to it. the vocals of him were light and vibrant, opposite of what he had shown amanda earlier when she had crossed him. smooth, rolling barotones came from his mouth now. he finally got gwen to burp lightly from his consistant patting of her back.

Oh lord. She was a stalker wasn't she? Well, that just depended on your definition she figured. I mean, she wasn't fallowing this silver eyed man around. Certainly not. There just wasn't any interesting people here. Teenage girls prancing around in mini skirts and cowboy boots. Suburban families that just got their daughters ears pierced. A group of guys taking a break from work, gathered around a table looking grim. She could of been extremely bored and made up a tragic story about how all the guys that worked at Best Buy were sleeping wit the same woman and they were all grim because she had left them for store manager. But really, that was just going way out of her way. As her eyes met his, she almost wanted to blush. Lord, she felt like a school girl again. Wait, she wasn't innocent in school at all. It was probably the dress. Her freckly cheeks turned the palest shade of peach and a smile swept over her lips at being caught. She would admit to herself that she was a tad surprised when the man stood up. Ohhhh he was tall. That was nice. Oh lord, here she was, imagining herself with a possibly married, or at very best, a man with a kid. And in the few seconds she considered wither she would be with a guy who had a child. Probably. As long she wasn't going to be having babies with him anytime soon. God, she was going to hell for sure. As he walked over, she straightening herself, she licked her lips (Hey, she was eating...) and rested her fork in the tray of delicious fake Asian food. Balancing the medium heat tray in one hand, she tucked the single braided strand of locks behind her ear as it tickled her face. Another smile danced over her features, a wide toothy one. And luckily she had been blessed with naturally straight and white teeth. So her smile was quite charming or cute, not like she intended it to be so. Just a good feature you could say. A soft, melancholic laugh danced of her at what he was proposing. Next to you? Well that's rather tempting Her voice was a mixture of an english accent and a purr. And it almost always had a tint of humor in it. She flicked her Atlantic gaze back to the luxury he had lucked upon. His table was prime crop. Not too close to anyone else, and all the three year olds where father away, throwing tantrums at other corners of the food court. And you do have a rather good plot of land... Her gaze ran from his table, to him, to his daughter. And her face changed all the same with each. First appraising, why yes what a nice catch. Then more appraising, why yes you do know how attractive your body, voice and words are. And lastly, admiration. What an adorable little girl. I'll buy you lunch though. Baby food really isn't that great at our age. tagg; oh, you know word count: not as good lyric credit: masterpiece theater ii - marianas trench graphic credit: - outfit: explained muse: iffy notes: Sorry, getting sleepy. she was just too pretty to pass up. besides, it wasn't like he was going to take her home. he definitely wouldn't do that until his little gwen was with amanda again, though he desperately wished he could just keep her all to himself. he saw her smile and he immediately loved it. it was white, straight and enticing. oh my, what a winner. he smiled back at her, relieved that she didn't mind his boldness. (although, he didn't think she would. she had no place to sit!) he heard her words and rich laughter bubbled up his throat. "aw! c'mon now! what kinda date would this be if i letcha pay for my food." of course the man was just teasing and it was evident by the playful wink that was shot at alexis.
with his head, he gestured for her to follow him and he turned and moved back to the table with that leisurely yet completely purposeful gait most holis's seemed to have. coming to the table, he did what he was raised by his papa to do and backed a chair out from under the table for alexis. once she was seated, he moved to sit in his seat, just left of her. he took his baby girl down from his shoulder and put her into a cradling position. then, he took off his make-shift bib, aka-napkin, and rolled it up and shot it effortlessly into a nearby garbage can. it was nothing but net; it sailed neatly into the hole. then, he looked down into the blue-silver eyes of his daughter, only to look back up to alexis.
this young woman didn't know his name! he felt ashamed that he hadn't properly introduced himself. he looked at alexis with those silver eyes, 'oh, i nearly forgot! the name's rhys holis." he extended a large, tan hand that looked like the hands of a man who had worked hard for whatever he wanted. they were rough and rather calloused. they were hands who had worked in the lumber yard, in the cattle yards, at ranches, and any other odd jobs that needed to be done. "and this is my daughter, gwendolynn alexandria." a sudden thought occured to him. geez, how embarrassing! she must've seen the whole scene with amanda, his ex-wife.

they know you're lonely, and they will only break your heartAND THIS MASTERPIECE WILL TEAR YOU APART
Alexis Atlas fallowed the man curiously back to his table, her flats making a soft tapping nose which she wasn't used too. She had an old broken in pair of black off brand Vans that she lived in.She really didn't dress up much, but she was happy that she had today. For what ever reason she didn't want to look like her normal self in front of this man. She noticed his long feline stride and it practically added to his height. Alexis herself had a long, stretched out stride, but nothing like the broad backed man she was trailing after. She probably had never wanted to get to know a man like she did with Rhys since Atlas, and he was a horse! She found Rhys thoroughly fascinating. Sliding into the chair casually, a coy smile crossed her. Any other man and she would of waved his attempt at chivalry away. But with Rhys she didn't mind. At all really. Tucking her dress under her, she crossed her ankles and slide her dish onto the shabby cafeteria table. Glancing down at the still hot and steaming Asian, she twirled the fork around, without any real intent of eating. The same coy smile was on her lips and she glanced up from playing with her food. He was an intimidating man, and it felt like his silver eyes just saw thorough her, which she wasn't used too. And she wasn't sure she liked it just yet. Playfully she rolled her blue eyes at his wink, and gave a soft snort of a laugh at his date comment. Well how was I supposed to know? You just whisk and girl of her pillar and suddenly it's a date? She waved her hand towards her precious feasting spot and sighed dramatically. How was a girl supposed to know? You really should ask a girl out officially you know? What manners! She couldn't hold back a smile, and something along the lines of a giggle leaked out of her at her teasing. Smiling as to not come off as a bitch, she took his hand in hers and noticed how it was lived in hand. She had always found men with girlishly smooth hands to be extremely odd characters. Even her hands were rough in the palms, the worst being her ring finger of course. She rarely wore gloves when she was riding, and she rode enough for just about anyone. But riding wasn't all she did. Her world was very hands on. She could change a tire, patch a wall, break a horse, what ever. She was the kind of girl to paint every wall in her house before she'd pay someone to do it for her. Alexis Atlas. Nice to meet you. She gave his hand a good squeeze, for she wasn't a push over, and then shifted to coo over his daughter. She was adorable and had beautiful eyes that even Alexis hoped she would keep. Her parents had tons of baby pictures of her when she was a baby, and she would always be a little bitter that she hadn't kept her purple baby eyes. She's adorable. it was surprising at just how much one could grasp about a person just by a handshake. when alexis's hands were feminine, most definitely, lots softer than his own, but he could trace and feel every callous on her hands. these hands had been worked with. and not only that, but the strength, the firm grip of the shake was something one didn't usually come across in females that didn't come from the south. her strength showed through in the simple gesture and it made him smile. taking his hand back, he looked at her with that insanely attractive smile. he laughed and replied to her playful scoffing at him.
his lips parted to release tones wrought with laughter. "you're right, you're right. i did forget my manners! so lemme fix that." thus, he leaned gwen across his stomach so she wasn't laying flat and he took alexis's hand in both of his own. he looked earnest into her face, her pretty blue eyes. "alexis atlas..will you take this poor excuse of niceness as a date?" he still had that sincereness in his silver eyes and expression. and then suddenly, that grin that should be familiar by now was released and could be seen. his eyes twinkled merrily and he slowly took his hands back. if he had snatched them back, she might've thought he didn't want to touch her. and that was quite contradictory to what he was feeling.
upon hearing her next words, and seeing her admiring gaze, rhys's laughter became booming. of course it wasn't that loud in the already loud food court, but had it been a room with just the three of them, it would've been bouncingn off the walls. he looked at her with amusement shining in his eyes. "heck naw! that lady's just drifter off da streets. i had this baby AAAAALL by myself." he nodded at her and then picked up gwendolynn to cradle her again. obviously her sleeping habits had changed because her eyes drooped heavier, like she was about to be knocked out.
rhys admired his infant daughter for just a little bit longer. he loved the way she was, and even the little bit of blue in her eyes she got from her mother and even the wispy cloud of gold laying on her head. it didn't matter. she had his smile. and amanda didn't have ANYTHING to do with that. a finger went to her face and traced the line of her jaw and he brought her up to his face to kiss her tenderly on the forehead. he hadn't been paying attention to his expression, but to anyone who was gazing at him would've seen the ultimate of softness that could be carried on anyone's features. pulling her back down, her head and body being cradled by his hands, body resting lightly on his lap, his silver eyes broke away to look at alexis.
he smiled softly at her and asked in a voice that could just be heard over the buzz of the massive crowd. "so, you live in shady lane?" this woman intrigued him. in a way, she didn't seem comfortable in the eye-catching clothes she was wearing. she should be with friends at the mall, not by herself. perhaps she didn't have any close friends. in fact, if anything, she looked like she wanted to be somewhere else, anywhere but here and now. he hoped he wasn't the cause of her discomfort.

There was a found warmth that radiated from his hands into hers. Anyone else and this could of been uncomfortable. Or maybe that was a lie. She was a champ at the 'are you nervous game'. But with most even attractive men, she wouldn't let them flirt this much and get away with it in the first five minutes of knowing her. As she received her hands back, she spun around her fork in the noodles some more, toying with the thought of taking a bite. Propping her other elbow on the table top she rested her face in it, smiling at the Rhys in front of her. As their eyes meet, she saw universes in his silver and black eyes, and for a moment she was sure she had ADD. But that really wasn't the point. Her eyes were alight and merry, the corners squinting in a smile. I'll consider it...Best not to come off too easy. Another mental joke, you had to be easy to come off easy. Discarding the plastic fork full of asian-soy-sauce-infested-noodles, she instead fished out a chicken bite and picked it off her fork. Her mouth welcomed it like a lover, and her stomach liked it even more. Oh, that was right. She was hungry before sexual fascination kicked in. Needs then wants. That was how it was supposed to be. Fancy how she could have both. Licking her lips lavishly, she almost choked from a sputter of a laugh at Rhys' next words. Some how I don't buy that completely. Not only did she give birth, but I highly doubt you were mixing milk for a new born at 3 in the morning. No offense. Taking another bite, she shifted her weight. She shifting her propped arm and sat up straighter with more dignity. She could walk in heels, she could look good in a dress, she could even go a pretty fine smokey eye. But all of that wasn't really her. Tilting her wrist, she offered Rhys the fork. Sharing was caring. She didn't mind, and somehow she doubted he would let her actually buy him lunch. Yeah. I've lived here for a couple months now. Moved from New York. Its...Hot hereA smile of a laughter danced over her lips as she said that. She much preferred the cold, Atlas liked it better though. rhys holis looked at alexis with wide eyes. "what?! you don't believe me?! i was a good momma! and a good daddy!" then, he did a total rhys and made fun of the gay guy by finishing and a very fruity voice, "oh, girl! you shoulda seen my ankles they was sooo swollen! and meh baaack wa' hurtin'! ooooh, girl, it was AWful!" he finished with a flick of his wrist. rhys was bold and daring. he would go to all kinds of lengths to make people laugh. he'd rish looking foolish or stupid, just to make people laugh. he didn't know why...it was just the fascination with the kinds of laughter he could hear.
but at the moment, he was focused on gwen's and alexis's laughter. after his little show, he looked down at gwen, who's eyes were gleaming and staring straight up at him. the cerulean and grey were breath-taking. but even more besides that, gwendolynn let alexis see hear her laughter and see her smile. when she smiled, it was straight up her father's smile, the lines of her face moving in that same, attractive way. a sweet chuckle came from the little girl, it was this high-pitched, happy squeal. rhys could only burst into laughter at gwendolynn's little blessing. however, his laughter was cut short by his stomach growling again. well, actually, this time it was a roar.
seeing alexis offer him her fork, a sly smile twisted it's way onto his features. he gingerly took the eating utensil from her hand and twisted it in the noodle and stretched his neck so that he was eating over her tray to prevent some type of disastrous mess for someone else to just clean up or eat upon. hey, he hated when other people did it, so why should he return the favor? taking a bite and then another calmed his stomach for a moment. he licked his lips, trying to rid them of the soy sauce and any other spices or ingredients that just happened to be on his kissers. after his mouth was empty and his mouth and lips clear, he replied to her words. "oh! really?! you have a horse yet? and yeah, it's hot and humid here...but i do believe miss'ippi's got it beat."
the poor guy didn't know that that was the most unusual question to ask a person who lived in shady lane. but of course, he had gathered that this whole town was equine-oriented, but he was only asking on behalf of his own experiences. he was constantly in search of a horse, preferably a foal, that he take the place of his horse that had died so many years ago. he snapped out of his thoughts to focus back on alexis. and his dern stomach growled again. two bites was not enough for a full grown man who had the metabolism of a meerkat.

She rolled her eyes as he took on the mother persona. “You sound black” She said rather simply, or bluntly depending on your perspective. Or maybe he was black and a mother. Ohhhhh what a twist that would be. Ryhs was really only tan at best, but we were all entitled to our fantasies. Wither that was cervix ripping child birth or not, who was she to judge? I mean, Alexis’ fantasies were more along the lines of nails-digging-into-her-back, desperate-and-rough-kissing-sex. But what ever. A character was a character. Pushing the tray more in his direction, she held a “one second” index finger up, and got up to fetch another fork. Smoothing her dress, she glanced up at Rhys with one of those smiles that just reeked that something kinky or funny was being thought about. Spinning on her heel, her dress twirled and chased after her, exposing the top of her thigh as she went about. She made short work of getting her second fork, flashing an apologetic smile and blush at the annoyed man that ran the register. He had to give in of course, she had a cute face and knew how to use it to her advantage. Funny how she wasn’t really the innocent doll face she seemed to be. Skimping back to the table, she ignored the envious scowls and slide into her very own metal chair, and propped her elbows up on Ryhs’ very own cafeteria table. Taking a stab and twist at the noodles, she happily obliged to her stomach and ate some more. “Mmmhmm” She purred in response. Not to the thought of her horsey friends, but the bliss of eating rather. “I have two, a Thoroughbred filly and an Akhal-teke stallion. You?” Most people here had horses. Or at least the people she knew of did. I mean, she was pretty sure not a lot of people here at the mall had horses. But since the barn was where she spent all her free time, she was pretty positive that the majority of people there had an equine friend. Maybe not the same at the bar, but half the people there probably wouldn’t even remember if they owned a horse by the end of the night anyways. “And I imagine Mississippi has more mosquitoes too” tagg; well... ha word count: ? lyric credit: masterpiece theater ii - marianas trench graphic credit: - outfit: explained muse: its there, sort of. notes: Keane. credit: BABY DARLING ! @ CAUTION 2.0[/blockquote]

he watched with those gleaming silver eyes as she got up. upon seeing her smile, a dirty thought rose into his mind. her pale skin looked soft and creamy, touchable, kissable. he wondered what it...he shook his head. alexis was inviting yes. but he had just met the girl. perhaps, there was something as strong as chemistry after all. he gave her a lop-sided grin, daring her to say something provocative. well, he wouldn't do anything that way, anyways, until gwen was taken care of and asleep. he chuckled to himself as alexis swept through the crowd, to get the fork, and travel back. oh, what quick work was that!
it wasn't right. it was almost like something was off. it wasn't the situation or the girl. it was just his feelings. how odd. well, he would discover them later. he sighed and then alexis was back in her seat, eating with him. this was fun. he had her fork. and she was made to go get an unusued one. hah! did she like the thought that he was using the fork she had merely used moments before? the thought made him smile. then, he heard her words. "i have two, a thoroughbred filly and an akal-teke stallion. you?" at this, his expression became saddened but thoughtful. his silver eyes peered at her as he swallowed another mouthful of noodles, with a bit chicken in there as well.
full lips, not obnoxiously full, mind you, parted to let out his southern/spanish twanged words. "actually, i don't... i-uh, my horse died several years ago, and then my life kinda spiralled downwards after that...so i hadn't had time. but now that i have control of my own life again, i'm looking for a horse. i want a foal to raise, not a matured horse." he smiled at her, a kind one, not a trace of ill-humor in it. he took another bite of their food and as he chewed and swallowed, he heard her next statement. the words made him flat out grin. "hah! not nearly as much as you'd think! might be in some places...but not where i lived."
his head bounced once in a convicted nod. another bite entered his mouth. another bit of poultry in there. chinese food had always been one of his favorite foods. he enjoyed it whenever he could. he chewed it over slowly, his expression one of convincing thought. then, he suddenly looked at alexis and asked casually, but his eyes were gem-like in their intense twinkle. "so, why are you at the mall anyways? you lookin' for an escort? an date to the tailgate, maybeh? cause if you are, you done found a willin' participant." he gave her a wicked grin and then turned his attention to the sleeping baby in his arms. she was knocked out. she was not gonna be awake for the next four hours. but after the brief check on his baby, his silver eyes found alexis's blue ones again.

I think we're both too hungry to share a fork She commented, noticing his smirk as she got a new fork. Hey, she was all for sharing saliva. It made good past time, a thing to do you could say. And if she hadn't been seriously hungry, she would of so shared the fork with him. Sadly, her mouth was far more interested in teriyaki flavoring than the way Rhys' mouth tasted from a fork. She would rather learn that out first hand. For a moment she was lost in thought as she ate. Not thinking about food but rather how Rhys' whiskers would feel on her face and just how big his hands actually were in comparison to her body parts. She pulled herself out of thought, reminding herself that the, while very attractive man, was a fatherly man at that. Alexis offered the man a sad smile of sympathy at his story. She had never been close to a horse other than Atlas, and he was still in good health. She had lost both her parents, and knew exactly how that felt. Atlas and her uncle were the only other major keys to her life right now. Sadly Atlas was a bigger factor, and she couldn't bear the thought of losing him. The brute was more than just a horse to her. He was her always partner. He looked out for her more than any person in her life. Abby, my filly, is far from mature. A three year old should-of-been-a-racehorse, and completely scared of the world. It really was a pity the way she had turned out. She completely scared the hell out of the As when she just busted out of the woods upon hearing another equine. Atlas laid it on her thick with that behavior. He acted too much like a father the girl. Encouraging her to be brave and reproaching her on right and wrong. She got a good long bite mark on her flank for just charging upon them. Probably not what your looking for but Atlas hates men, and if you ever wanted something to fiddle with Abby could use the attention Of course the filly probably wouldn't see it as attention though. She was scared of men (along with everything else), but it would do her good to see that not all men were evil. Taking another healthy bite of the #3 special, she had to pause to remind herself to chew before she swallowed. She was positively ravenous. She was desperate, but that was no reason to look silly in front of a hot man. She really did eat a lot, but somehow she managed the stay a 1/2 in jeans. Made no dang sense! Well New York was almost always brisk, and somehow there would always be a rustle of dead leaves from Central Park going down the side walk. You adapt in the winter. I just have yet to adapt to the Kentucky heat. My stallion loves it though. She really did have zero tolerance to the heat. You couldn't find her in something with sleeves here in the summer. Atlas on the other hand was loving it. He had a short and sleek coat, and his purple skin never burned. Alexis had a light tan over herself, but if she didn't watch it, she'd burn easily. She did her best to not go outside when it was 90 outside. Having a night job rocked. Twirling her fork absentmindedly, once again without intent of eating, she rested it down for a later moment. A wicked smile tainting her innocent look like poison, with a thick velveteen laugh fallowing it. Sweetheart, I work at the tailgate. If you're so will, I'll be there alllll night. Working at a dance seen type place wasn't so bad. You had to work, but if you let it, it was just pouring drinks. And if she was going to be seeing a man after, she wasn't so sure she just wanted to be cute holding hands over a cup of coffee at 2 in the morning. Simple, she wanted a man. And no, I'm trying to find a dress for my Uncle. He's coming into town and wants me to look... well, to say nice would be a joke. He wants me to look expensive." tagg; ish us word count: ? lyric credit: masterpiece theater ii - marianas trench graphic credit: - outfit: explained muse: *waves* notes: very busy people credit: BABY DARLING ! @ CAUTION 2.0[/blockquote]

rhys dakota looked at her with a white smile, despite the fact that he was eating. 'i do believe you're right." he chuckled, and then took another bite. he looked down at what had seemingly become his half of the plate. it was nearly empty. he smiled inwardly and then scoffed at himself. wow, he must really look like a pig. haha, oh, well. a man had to eat. he was constantly eating it seemed. his sisters always joked about him and his brothers being living garbage disposals. well, he was hungry! and so was tucker and taylor, his older brothers, and his younger brother, mitchell! eh, the holis genes. each of the holis men were over six feet, easily. only little mitchell was lagging. but he was 13. he'd grow into himself.
male mind worked smoothly over her words as he heard them. he took a moment to think. in the moment, she had been thinking and just before he opened his mouth to speak, she threw out another suggestion. he laughed warmly, the barotones arollin'. "yanno, until i get my own horse, i think i'll play with skittish lil' abby then. sounds like she needs some socializin'." he thought about what she might look like...as long as she wasn't an appaloosa (which she wasn't because she was a thoroughbred), they'd be just fine. for some strange reason he found appaloosa's so unappealing. he came out of his thoughts without an upstart.
a loud bout of laughter came from his chest. he looked at alexis with sparkling gray eyes. "you'll get used to it after a while! and i'm glad to hear that male-hating atlas likes the kentucky heat. and even if you don't much like the hotness of this state..." playful laughter dwindled. "it suits you." he chuckled, shook his head, and then took another bite. the last piece of teriyaki chicken on his side of the plate. he took it and the last bunch of lo mein and put it in his mouth. after chewing somewhat, he swallowed and had to do an alexis by swallowing as quickly as possible to avoid choking.
oh my. his laughter came out in sputters. by the end of it, he was red faced and gwendolynn was STILL asleep. he looked at her, that wide smile on his face. "geez, alexis! you're just asking for my services!" he gave her a playful wink, that sly grin now on his features. "oh? expensive? i can help you pick something out...leelyn was awful 'bout that type of thang." and indeed she was! leelyn took a brother and a sister whenever she needed opinions on the new gowns and other clothes of her wardrobe. and rhys had been occasionally picked.

they know you're lonely, and they will only break your heartAND THIS MASTERPIECE WILL TEAR YOU APART
Oh baby, I never need to ask She said with a wink and a playful laugh. Well, she never did unless she was desperate, and she wasn't there just yet. Though she could almost see herself asking for it if this insane flirting kept going on. Picking up her fork once more, she quit dwindling and ate the rest of what she thought she wanted. Some how there could never be enough soy sauce on anything Asian themed. Seeing that Rhys had finished his make shift half, she pushed it closer to him to let him finish off her pickings. She could eat non-stop all day, but in small portions. Hey, she had little hands and if that was supposed to the be size of your stomach... What was that pinkie and thumb thing again? Pulling a hand up to her face, she whipped away what was probably soy sauce from the corner of her lips with her index finger and sucked it off. An eyebrow slightly raised with a wicked smile to go hand in hand. Leaning back in her chair, she stretched her legs out and found that the big mans big feet were everywhere! Geez your feet are massive! She scoffed teasingly, finding a spot with her right leg tucked between his feet and her other leg pushed up against his right. (I think that makes sense...) Getting comfortable as she waited for Rhys to finish off the rest of the dish, well, tray. Abby is about sixteen hands or so, but I wouldn't consider her broke. She is barely racing broke... Which was sad. If you were trained to run in a circle with a person on your back, to slow down when that person pulled on your mouth with all his weight, to run when something was slapping your flank...well, that kind of training wasn't saying much. She could make a lovely dressage mare, she had a great free suspension when she let herself show off. If she ever calmed down enough, she could do western. Probably wouldn't be much of a jumper though, and barrels and poles could be scary... Throwing her head back she laughed at his hot weather comment. Oh? I always thought it just gave me an excuse to where a tank top and shorts that barely cover my ass! Her laughter was high pitched like bells. Good to know she wasn't too full of herself when she thought she was looking good though. She didn't know if she looked that great in her dress today, for tank tops and jeans suited her better. Hugged her curves, showed off the not so innocent side of her. A pastel dress didn't show off the softly misshaped knuckles on her right hand. It didn't accent the way her muscles rolled when she danced. It didn't appeal to the naughty smiles she was flashing. Looking down at her exposed knees, she smooth her dress over the small gap between her legs. There was a mischievous look on her pale and peachy features when she looked back up. As Rhys finished the rest, Alexis eyed the puddle of soy sauce and microscopic scraps, and untangled herself from his legs and stood up, pushing the chair back. So want to try on dresses with me? Pulling a hand up, she pulled her hair out of its pony tail and fluffed it over her shoulders. She loved her curly hair and could often be found toying with it, plus stylist loved it. It was fine and thick, and had a great natural curl but submitted to a straight iron like no other. Plus she had this berry coconut conditioner that smelled grand even past her wet nights. Twisting the long curly locked between her fingers, she leaned forward a tad to get a peek of the cute sleeping Gwendolynn before flicking her eyes up to meet Rhys' silver ones with mirroring admiration. tagg; ish us word count: ? lyric credit: masterpiece theater ii - marianas trench graphic credit: - outfit: explained muse: *waves* notes: finished :} credit: BABY DARLING ! @ CAUTION 2.0[/blockquote]

the only male holis to reside in shady lane looked at her, recieving her wink. this was such a comical, entertaining little game! he doubted that it would go far, despite the fact that he wanted it too. he had a feeling this atlas girl and himself could have a little fun together. "of course you don't! i volunteer." with that said, he gave a beautiful half-bow from his current sitting position. when he came up, he heard her next words. and responded likewise. "MY FEET ARE LARGE?! well, your feet are just tineh." he nodded several times rapidly, as if to disprove any other notion that happened to cross her mind.
but he was just a tease and he hoped alexis knew that. he grew more serious, with this light and thoughtful expression on his face. "hmm...sounds like she needs more help...maybe i can be of some assistance?" even with his southern drawl, it was easy to tell that rhys wasn't nearly as stupid as he sounded. some of his phrases were different than most. it sometimes threw people off. he thought about the things he might need to help abby, but then he had the thought to try to correct himself. she was a 3-year old? what horse couldn't remember how to race around that same elliptical track over and over again?
he was so deep in thought over the matter that he almost didn't hear her next words. "ooooh! that's something i gotta see up close and personal." his smile was bright and white as he winked at her. then, he had finished the tray of food, because it was apparent alexis wanted him to eat it, and then pushed the tray away. "sure. if i can find one that doesn't make my butt look big." he chuckled at alexis and then picked up the slumbering infant on his lap. it was a miracle she was still asleep. any other child would've been crying their head off. but no, not gwendolynn. she was a good baby...when it came to her father.
having his daughter in his arms, he got up, once again his height seemingly abnormal. moving out of the way of his chair, he pushed it back in. he did the same for alexis's chair. and then, he gently put gwendolynn in her carrier and put the bag on his shoulder and the carrier in his hand on the opposite side. anyone else would've looked stupid, gay, but rhys looked unashamed about his appearance, like the pastel pink bag and the baby-filled carrier was a new fad. he looked at alexis, "well, where are you going?"
