BOYS TRYIN’ TO TOUCH MY JUNK• gonna smack him if he’s getting too drunk •NOW, THE PARTY DON’T START TIL I WALK INA slow, ragged breath was drawn in. It was to calm the nerves that had often risen when faced with the neutral colored based hospital. When the owner finally exhaled the breath held in, the white vapor rose thick into the air. Swirling in unfamiliar designs and patterns, hazel eyes watched it dissipate into the atmosphere. Winter had arrived early and the temperatures had fallen. It was bound to come sooner or later, but the frigid temperatures just made the five foot eleven man want to stay indoors. However, being outside only days after a snow storm had struck the small town was on his agenda today. The twenty-three year old man felt small as he studied the hospital. He knew the hospital inside and out, and knew the majority of the doctors and nurses. And he kept a close eye on the hot ones, and expected them to be there when he arrived. But it wasn’t everyday that the man visited. It was only on days like this that he was forced to leave the comfort of his own home to make sure he was fine. And he was well… As close as he could have been.
Without letting this drag on any longer, he took the often dreaded steps towards the entrance that beckoned to him. His fashionable winter boots causing sounds of the snow that had been left behind in the parking lot. And with each determined step, there was that fleeting thought to just turn around and head back to the warmth of his car. His car was in Rafael’s usual parking spot; though it wasn’t assigned to him it always seemed ready and available whenever he came to visit. Releasing another breath into the air, he ran his fingers through his spiky brown hair. The gel felt cold to his touch, and when he glanced at his reflection in the sliding doors, he had noticed a few look white with frost. Rafael smiled for a brief moment, and approached the doors. As they slid open, he was greeted with bright faces and the anxious faces of patients in the spacious waiting room. Pulling his long, black winter coat closer to his muscular frame he approached the front desk. A woman that Rafael was unfamiliar with greeted him with a bright smile. He smiled in return. His hazel eyes brightened and his gentle, masculine features softening with his genuine appearance. Allighiero. His strong though semi-manly voice seemed defined by a subtle accent that only presented itself when speaking his full name. A flicker of confusion passed through her face and he released a soft laugh. A-l-l-i-g-h-i-e-r-o. A relieved look glimmered on her youthful face, and when his information had been brought up on the computer she smiled once more. ”Rafael?” Rafael smiled and nodded, but before being allowed to take a seat next to the unsettling and rigid people, another woman waved to him. Grinning, he waved back to her, and the others that had followed upon seeing his face.
After the greetings were exchanged, he walked across the carpeted floor to the magazine rack. Judgmental eyes followed him, and Rafael stayed calm beneath their stares and questioning faces. He was sure they were coming to their own conclusions as to why a man who looked as healthy as he did was here. And he knew their guesses would be wrong. He wasn’t the healthiest person living on the earth, but he was close. For five years, Rafael has been living with HIV/AIDS and spreading the word about his story. He wanted to follow in the foot steps of his hero who was Pedro Zamora. Pedro came out as being the first openly gay man on the Real World: San Francisco living with HIV/AIDS. And Rafael was succeeding. Just like Pedro, he traveled to different places to spread awareness, and well… Rafael is also gay. Succulent men are his favorite thing to study, and are the only thing easy on his eyes. Browsing the magazine rack, he finally made his decision. He plucked an “Eye Spy” book off the shelf to distract himself whilst he waited. Smiling, he turned around and headed towards an empty seat. He gave a gentle nod to the man who sat four seats down, clinging to the hand of his girlfriend. As he settled down into the cushioned seat, he slumped down feeling like he was at home.
Rafael opened the children’s book up to the first page, and as instructed, attempted to find the objects. Failing miserably, he was too stubborn to give up finding a yellow penguin on a page of all yellow-colored objects. Behind him, he could hear the door open and a nurse’s voice call upon a patient. One by one, they all anxiously left the waiting room behind to meet their destined fate. All of them acted as if it would be their last day, or the world was ending. He picked up on their unease, but for Rafael it was a different story. There were possibilities that every day could his last, and he treated them as so. HIV/AIDS was unpredictable, though there have been occasional scares… The sweats in the middle of the night just being one to mention. Rafael was all familiar with this, and though it was his secret fear to die, he knew that one day he would die. And he also knew that it wouldn’t be from old age. Reality was harsh, but Rafael remained his beaming ray of sunshine. A sudden movement of Rafael’s hand slammed onto the book, and his index finger landed on the yellow penguin. The book fell to the floor, and Rafael blindly clambered after it. I found it! He shouted with glee as he was now on his hands and knees with a proud grin on his face. Grasping the book, he held onto his chair arm and hauled himself upwards. Sitting down, he looked at the almost fearful look of an old man across from him. The face was priceless though Rafael smiled sheepishly. Sorry. He was quick to apologize. I found the yellow penguin. See? Rafael held up the book, and realized then that it had fallen closed on its way down to meet the floor. Blushing fervently, he rushed himself to flip to the first page, where he triumphantly showed the elderly man where the yellow penguin resided. I beat my record of forty-five minutes to find something… Now I’m down to twenty-five. He tried to cover it up, and though he was failing he gave a reasonable attempt to gather what was left of his pride.
The elderly man gave him a look that he was hopeless, and blinked as though he were seeing things. Rafael cleared his throat with unease, and only proceeded to grow redder as the secretaries behind him were hysterical with laughter. Some wiped away tears and Rafael lifted the book to hide his face behind the cover. Another nurse entered the scene and called upon the older man who shuffled past him with an unusually fast pace. The poor man must have felt he was loosing precious IQ points around the twenty-three year old man who acted like a ten year old. The secretaries calmed from raucous laughter to giggles here and there. Rafael continued to stay a bright shade of red that deepened as he heard their giggles, and heard their mocking of how he acted all in good fun. He began to smile at his antics upon hearing them, but delved back into finding another object on the next page. As the minutes passed, he wondered to himself if he would ever be called on to leave the dull beige walls of the waiting room behind. He glanced upwards to stare out window at the white expanse before him that could blind anyone. The shimmering snow had fascinated him, and he jumped when a voice behind him rung out. ”Rafael?” Rafael stood to his feet and put away the book. He waved good-bye to the women standing at the front desk with a broad smile, and was whisked away by the nurse who held a thick folder containing all his records. Rafael sat on the white paper that crinkled as he shifted himself to be comfortable. He stood still whilst she took his blood pressure and took his pulse. She smiled at him before saying that the doctor would be right with him. Yeah, right. He thought to himself. Don’t lie to me missy! It’ll be at least half an hour before I get the results to my recent t-cell count test. But instead of voicing this, he just smiled sweetly and nodded like a good little boy. When she left, he exhaled and looked at the wall paper designs. Rafael swung his legs as he removed his winter coat. Sitting on his hands now, he continued to swing his legs, and whistled to himself whilst he waited for the doctor to appear. And he knew that it would be a while. Good things come to those who wait, and Rafael will certainly wait hours to make sure he received good news.

Can You Hear Me? Can You Feel Me in Your arms? Holdin My Last Breath... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Tan arm were wound tightly around his torso when he woke at around three Am that morning. As always, his wife was glued to his body. Her head on his chest. Holding him in a death grip. He groaned and struggled to unwind her arms. He had to go to work, as always. With a grunt, he somehow managed to get free. He congradulated himself silently. Creeping to the bathroom for a shower.
That got done quickly. Getting dressed in his usual clothes. The basics, white shirt, black pants....Scrubs. All the fun stuff. He yawned and went to check on his kids. He first when to Sawyer's room. He lay passed out in bed. His large frame sprawled out. His son snoring happily. His hair a jet black mop. On the pillow beside him lay his cat. A siamese named Siam (what better name?)
Now, where was his cat? The hospital usualy had a black cat wandering around. Going wherever she wished. Burness was Dimonte's cat. Shady Lane's little black leopard. She was at the hospital, only when he could find her. Which he couldn't now. Going to the girls' room. He peeked inside. Seeing his daughter vean sleeping made him feel nice. He gave this girl a chance in life. She was his first adopted daughter. The the other bed lay Syra. She wasn't his child but she was close enough. He'd known her since the moment she was born.
He was too scared to go check on Andre. His newest child. He adopted Andre after his parents died in a car crash. That kid slept like a rock....A dead rock. And when he woke up. That rock became a bear. Then there was Alex. The poor kid had just woken up from being in a coma for a month. Still couldn't remember anything. Well, not much anyway. Alex was sleeping soundly. Which was good. He was comfortable here in this massive house.
On the couch lay Sawyer's twin brother, Nathen. His legs hanging off. Leaving the top half of his body still on the couch. He had just got back from a...break. Leaving to visit his....adopted parents. Walking over, the doctor touched the top of his son's head and smiled. Nathen only rolled over and groaned. It was about five when he finally left the house. Jumping into his wonderful Ferarri.
He may have been a doctor, but he was a legend in America. Almost everyone knew of his work. He sped to the hospital, parking in his usual spot. Heading inside, he gave the young woman at the front desk a kind smile before heading off to his usual room, where he sat down in his usal chair. Paperwork took only a few hours. Then he had to go into open heart surgery. Took another hour and a half. He lost track of time soon after, actually forgetting he had a patient waiting for him. He hadn't slept well the night before and, he had to admit it, he was working way to hard.
He was sitting in the break room, trying to wake himself up with a cup of coffee when a nurse came in, handing him a folder before shuffling back out. He looked inside to see the name of his next victim. Rafael. ah yes, he knew this kid. HIV/AIDS and homosexual. He studied the T-cell test results for a moment. Comparing it to his last test. Not much of a change. That was good news.
He finished his coffee, and headed back down the long hall, trying his best to keep clear eyes, too bad he was yawning his head off, so tired. Before he entered the room, he used the stuffed file to wake himself up. Hitting his head once or twice.
Now that he was awake (kind of) he entered the room with a kind but tired smile "Sorry to keep you waiting." he said softly approaching his bright eyed patient. "So. Rafael, I just got the results of your recent T-cell count. Good news. Not much of a change. The virus is currently laying dormant inside of you. But, as you know. That can change very quickly." he paused, looking through the folder.
"We've been having a small problem with the Swine flu this past month. Do anything you can to not get sick." he mused. Letting him know of the recent outbreak. He looked up at the young man sitting before him. What did he have to say? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Safe Inside Myself. Are All My Thoughts of You. BOYS TRYIN’ TO TOUCH MY JUNK• gonna smack him if he’s getting too drunk •NOW, THE PARTY DON’T START TIL I WALK INIt was mere moments that had passed that Rafael had gotten bored. The walls around him were bland, and though he could not find any intricate faces hidden within the wall paper he grew very restless. He slid off the paper, careful not to make any sound, but when it did he started all over again. After at least fifteen minutes of this entertaining struggle, he had given up. And though he didn’t like that he had to, it was impossible to make the stupid white paper shut up. He had shushed it a couple times, but to no avail. Huffing, he grumbled under his breath before proceeding with a cheery tune. His whistling echoed around him in the decent sized room. Rafael eyed the metallic sink to his right, and the small paper cups that lied on its rim. Smiling, he slid off the paper – uncaring that it crinkled and announced his every movement – and onto the floor. He counted the strides to the sink, and upon reaching it, grabbed a stack that obtained at least sixteen. Rafael lined up the mini cups, and made numerous shapes out of them. It was clear Rafael needed to do something to pass the time. His nerves were starting to grow which made him antsy, and occupying himself with the mini cups his nerves were beginning to settle.
When having just made a pyramid, it fell down onto the small counter. Frowning a little, he built it back up again. It was only then that he heard the faint sounds of someone approaching. He gasped to himself before rushing to stack the mini cups back in their original untouched state. Rafael jumped up onto the white paper just as the door was opening. He grinned at the man who entered, swaying his legs and sitting on his hands like he had been a while ago. And though he portrayed the innocence of a child, he only knew his dirty secret of playing with the mini cups. Rafael remembered this man’s features from having seen him around before. He blinked, seeing the tired look in is eyes. Oh my goodness! You need some sleep, Doctor! He thought, but he smiled without displaying this thought. His eyes shifted in a nonchalant way to the clock. He was right. Doctors took at least half an hour before tending to a patient. But Rafael didn’t mind. At least he didn’t have to wait for much longer. Hiya, Doc! He greeted in his usual bright tone. He studied his kind and tired smile, but he was battling himself not to say anything. No offense, doctor, but you look like you could use a five hour nap. I know... I know. You’re the one with the PhD, but you shouldn’t be working so many hours. Well, that battle did not last long, and there goes his foot in mouth disease.
Rafael, despite having said what he stated, grinned at the older man with childish innocence. Though a slight blush began to form on his cheeks, but he quieted to let the doctor have a chance to speak. He couldn’t wait a moment longer to hear what his results were. He felt fine, so didn’t that mean he was fine? Rafael inhaled sharply when the doctor opened his mouth to speak. He grimaced and his eye lids shut closed as he prepared himself for the news. He nodded when he apologized for taking his time coming here. Rafael wouldn’t hold it against him. But when doctor preceded, he felt his muscles begin to tense and then relax. His eye lids shot open, and his bright hazel eyed glowed and brimmed with sheer happiness. With his swinging legs still in motion, he leapt off the edge of the patient’s seat and onto the floor. In one quick bound, he squeezed the doctor in an almost rib breaking hug. Are you serious?! He gushed, moving the man side to side in his arms. His voice was bright and uplifting. Rafael let go a minute or so later, and realizing what he had done, blushed even redder than before. I’m so sorry, but that’s wonderful news! He squealed and began to bounce in his place with obvious joy. Clearing his throat, Rafael tried to regain his composure, but it was a definite epic fail. He grabbed ahold of the doctor’s hand, and shook it over and over again. Thank you, doc! Thank you so much! Finally, he released the man’s hand and went back to taking a seat. He listened to what he had to say about the Swine Flu. Rafael’s smile faltered a little. Really? Oh, that’s awful. He spoke, his voice and eyes expressing grave concerns for those who had the flu. I’ll do whatever I can to stay healthy, Doc! Just as long as you promise me to get some sleep, and take a day off or something. He was serious, and though Rafael knew practically next to nothing about him, he didn’t care. He was a caring person. Deal? Rafael challenged him, arching both eyebrows and staring the doctor straight in the eye. He certainly meant business, but he wondered as to what the reaction he would receive out of the doctor before him. He was almost certain that he had not experienced anything of the sort and from a patient no less!

Can You Hear Me? Can You Feel Me in Your arms? Holdin My Last Breath... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The first comment the boy made actually had Dimonte laughing. "Kid, I look like I need a five month nap. I haven't slept much for two weeks." he yawned, showing off those pearly whites. He tilted his head this way and that. Popping his neck. Luckily he had enough energy to read his charts. He seemed to be a very interesting character. Dimonte never really had the chance to speak with him, And he was known to get to know his patients.
He was then taken into a bear hug. He didn't think much of the new preasure on his ribs. He looked down at the young man, who was a few inches shorter than himself. "You're welcome." he mumbled, but smiled happily. Living with HIV was probably a challange, never had he seen a patient who was so open and bright. And some day Rafael wouldn't be there anymore. It pained the doctor to no end. The crushing half hug laster about a minute. Dimonte was a statue, not really moving.
Maybe, if he went to the barn. He could get Evean's stallion to wake him up. People in China would probably be able to hear that horse's screaming. Khan was a monster. But, Dimonte really didn't want to blow his eardrums out. Maybe Maysa's nagging would wake him up. Or Sawyer stubborn complaining. Naw!
A good fight would get his blood pumping. Then Rafael spoke again. The doctor lifted his head from his thoughts and smiled "You'll stay healthy weather I stay awake or not...But ok de---"
"Don't you dare make a deal to that! You can sleep. None of us can. Thanks to you passing on your no sleeping gene." Sawyer...The doctor lifted his head, looking at the door to see his son standing there. The blind man having a sneer on his face. Holding his son's hand was one of his patients. A little six year old girl fighting cancer. Also, sawyer's best little person friend. The young silver eyed girl stared around the room with a smile. She had very little hair left.
"Hi, Dr. Dimonte! You're tired." she pointed out. The doctor almost dropped to his knees in relief. "Sawyer! Come here." he said. And his son came forward. "Dad, you're not going to make me amuse you again. Cuz the last time I did that..." Sawyer shuddered.
"Punch me, Sawyer. Wake me up! Please." the doctor begged touching his taller son's shoulder. "You want me to punch you?" Sawyer mumbled. "Yes! Yes! Punch me hard! Knock me out for all I care!" the doctor snorted. Not even Sawyer's punches could knock him out. "I won't get in trouble?"
"Hell no! Sawyer. I might actually hit you back just to see you cry!" his upper lip pulled back into a smile. Shrugging, Sawyer made a fist and nailed him right between the eyes. His eyes crossed and he woke up!
The doctor stumbled back a foot and started laughing. "Thanks, Sawyer. I needed that. At least you don't hit as hard as your mother." he snickered. Sawyer groaned. "Why do you have to be MY father. You're so....weird." Sawyer turned to leave. "So! I'm the weird one. You got that from your mum."
Then Sawyer laughed as he walked down the hall. Leaving Dimonte with a bruise on his head. He looked to Rafael "Now that's how you get yourself awake." yep, having someone punch you in the face. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Safe Inside Myself. Are All My Thoughts of You. BOYS TRYIN’ TO TOUCH MY JUNK• gonna smack him if he’s getting too drunk •NOW, THE PARTY DON’T START TIL I WALK INThe laughter coming from the doctor made Rafael grin in response, and hearing the comment made in return, Rafael chuckled a little. Become a bear and hibernate. He stated with a nod, and though he wasn’t serious at the time, he sure looked it. However, a smile had begun to form whilst Dimonte had yawned and popped his neck. Though when the popping noises stared, Rafael cringed backwards. When the noise subsided, he glanced at the doctor with a relieved smile that he didn’t begin to pop his knuckles and so forth. There was something about the sound that Rafael found unpleasant, and though he didn’t know what it was, he didn’t press it any further. He studied the sleepy doctor, just noticing that he a little taller than himself. It was the first time he had had this doctor as his own. The other one, he assumed, had probably had enough of Rafael’s chipper personality. Well, he was old and ugly anyhow. Good riddance! He thought, and upon taking a seat after hugging the doctor, he had noticed then that he hadn’t moved much. But before he could analyze it any further, he got distracted by how the doctor would change into a bear.
He’d be massive and a dark, rugged brown with streaks of black. The mental image swelled to Rafael, and he was amused by this. Clearing his throat, he left his thoughts and the imagery behind. With a lopsided smile, he glanced up at Dimonte. If and when you become a bear… Don’t eat me. He laughed then, his hazel eyes brightening much more and seemed to turn a shade of blue. When his laugh began to die down, the shade of blue dissipated and his hazel eyes danced with amusement. Rafael lifted his face when Dimonte was ready to make a deal with him, but a man had cut him off, holding the hand of a girl. Aw! Come on! He said, and though had tried to look stern and mean, broke off into a innocent grin and gave a quiet laugh. Rafael listened to what the man had to say, and huffed in mock anger, though his eyes betrayed him and remained in their previous state of being bright and cheerful. When he studied the man he then realized that he was blind, but he didn’t mind. He wouldn’t treat him like an alien incapable of doing things on his own. Though, he bit his bottom lip after deciding he was good looking. To not say anything and butt into their conversation, he glanced at the little girl when she made her comment. He chuckled and with a childish grin, nodded in agreement. In a whisper, he lifted his hand, and spoke. That’s what I told him. Swaying his legs once more, he studied the girl for a moment. His heart melted whenever he was around kids, and this young child was no different. With her hair being very sparse, he only idolized her much more. She was a fighter of cancer, and having cancer at a young age. He would pray for her to hope that she would win the battle.
Rafael gave her another kind smile before turning his attention towards the father and son. He blinked, and his eyes changed from happy to curious. He watched the son step forwards, and when Dimonte made the request, Rafael fell off his seat in shock. Landing on the floor, he stared at them with shocked eyes. He stood up to his feet in a rush, and took a seat again. Don’t punch him! Don’t listen to a word he says! Rafael thought as he bit on his finger nail in anticipation of what was to happen. And then it happened, once the hand collided between the doctor’s eyes, Rafael flinched backwards as though he had been hit as well. He watched with horrified eyes as Dimonte staggered back before laughing. He was… Laughing?! What kind of strange man was this? Before long Rafael found himself laughing as well. He watched as Sawyer and the girl departed, and glanced at the doctor. When he spoke, Rafael nodded, still a little stunned. He stared at the newly formed bruise between the doctor’s eyes, and thought before speaking for once. I’ll be sure to remember that… But I’ll stick with coffee. It’s less painful. He said with a tight chuckle, hiding his most recent experience with coffee. Except when it burns the jewels… He cringed for a moment before glancing at the doctor. Rafael grinned at him. Crazy doctors were always the best.
