Can You Hear Me? Can You Feel Me in Your arms? Holdin My Last Breath... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Rays of the early morning sun shone through the window in the room of Alexander O'Heir. It was almost eight thirty in the morning, at the most. Alex's eyes slid open, finding himself on the floor. Another rough night. With a sigh, Alex heaved himself up and looked around, rubbing the sleep out of his eyes.
Finally on his feet,he went to his normal morning activities. He got dressed, and all that fun stuff. He put on a warm sweatshirt while his undershirt hugged his abs tightly. A pair of jeans and riding boots later, Alex went into Sawer's bathroom. Alex didn't have a master bedroom, so Sawyer allowed Alex to use his bathroom every now and then. Sawyer's bathroom was as big as Alex's box. Two sinks, a shower and a bathtub. A seperate room for the toilet (aka. Sawyer's thinking place).
Sawyer, being a neat freak ept the place clean. You could eat off the floor! You could look at the counters and see yourself. Not a peck of dust anywhere. The walls were pained a neat beige. Alex brushed his teeth, yeah. Each boy had a sink, for Sawyer's sake. That was a good thing. Alex moved oddly slow for the day.
He fixed his untidy, sorta and left. Silently creeping back out to the main hallway. Sawyer's room was in the center, the two sets of stairs ending there. Alex admired Sawyer's house. It was just so big! And Alex being a man of no money had never really knewhow the other of the other half lived. Sure he'd been to Dr. Contaro's homes in Reno, LA, Miami, London, and one other place. He joged back to his box of a bedroom just to see a note on his keyboard.
He read it slowly. It was by the doctor? What was Dimonte up to?
"Alex,
Keep you chin up kid, don't make me get the duct tape. Times have been hard on this family and well, I'm giving you something that might brighten your day. Go out to the ranch and look in the round pen.. You'll be surprised.
Dimonte Contaro"
Dr. Contaro was a very interesting man indeed. He was scary, helpful, funny, and. Well, he was the dad Alex never had. If he was ever given a choice to choose his father. Between Dimonte and his real Dad. Alex would turn to the wise doctor. But, what would he have for him in the round pen?
He went downstairs and slid into the living room. In the large room was a medium sized coffee table, a lage couch (sit on it you'll never want to get up) and a recliner. The coffee table was neatly organized with Sawyer's stuff. A very big bottle of water, cough medicine, a book. On the couch was Sawyer himself. Sleeping like a baby. The man was so pale, his cheeks flushed just a little. Dark brown hair hung over his face as he slept. His bare chest exposed while a heavy quilt covered his legs.
Alex examined his best friend with eyes full of pity. His chest was covered in the bright red gashes. Some worse than others. All neatly rearanged ocer his chest. There were three very large ones slicing across his ribcage, making it seem as if an animal with very large claws cut him.
Alex pulled the quilt over the tired body of his friend. He placed the back of his hand on his forehead, cheeks, arms and chest. Even though he was so pale, his body was so warm. His fever was still lurking around. Yep, Sawyer was very very sick. He had a bad flu Catching it somewhere. Sawyer had left Kentucky in search of Hell's Black Revenge and gt very sick. The air was always so cold for the five week he was gone and well, Sawyer came back looking worse than he did.
The boy had not eaten in days, hadn't gotton even a drink of water. Now, the blind man was fed and in the gentle hands of his father. The parents of awyer Contaro had taken over Sawyer's room, while the blind man and his twin brother, Nathen. Stayed in the living room. Nathen was fast asleep on the recliner. The wolf dog, Sparks, lay asleep on the floor beside Sawyer.
Sprawled out in the middle of the floor was Bean. Alex's Dalmation. Everyone in the family had a pooch. Sawyer had Sparks, Alex had Bean, Evean had Sam, the other wolf dog. Andre had Heart, Syra had two dogs. The puppies, Dasher and Dancer. Both German Shepherds, Dasher was the male, he was all black. While sweet little Dancer was pure white. They were born in a litter of eight puppies, all named after Santa's reindeer.
Bean lifted his head and wagged his tail. Hisdog was the quiet dog, he was always just loving life. Following the orders of the pack, led by Sparks. Now, Sawyer guide dog was massive. He was a German Shepherd wolf mix. He was a big dog! But he was the sweetest ball of fluff anyone would ever meet.
Alex grabbed his dog's red leash, the one that matched his collar. The Dalmation trotted over and sat on his master's feet, allowing him to clip of the lead. Finally, by nine o'clock. They were out of the house.
The air was crisp, almost frosty. It was going to be a very cold winter indeed. He tugged on the leash, his dog staying obediantly by his side. They jogged along, keeping warm. Bean's tail was raised and wagging. He was as happy as ever. He loved walks!
The ranch was already busy when they arrived. People led horses in andout of the barn. The arenas were busy. People practicing jumps and barrels. A young woman riding a Warmblood passed and wave happil to Alex. A mother and father were leading a small Quarer Horse around, a little boy around four riding on its back. That made Alex grin from ear to ear. He loved the though that that child had parents who loved him. But, he felt jealous.
His parents kicked him out andhe became one of the most wanted people in America. Of course, everyone in Shady Lane knew of Alexander O'Heir as he was but, they also knew that he was Sawyer Contaro's best friend and that if anyone told the police. They'd be haunted for life. Plus, everyone here seemed to realize who the real Alex was.
A quiet man with a passion for music and horses. He was just another guy. He moved forward, slowly at first, still looking around. A few people greeted him. Others asking how Sawyer was. Yep, the whole town semed to know the drama of his family. The people at the hospital were on their knees, begging for the doctor to join them. Evean, Syra and Andre finally came back in. Theywere back in town, they all stayed by Sawyer's side, while Alex was voted horse care giver.
He fed everyone. Getting nuzzles from Breeze, Rim, Wolf, and even Khan.Khan hated Alex but, he knew that the boy was there to take care of him. Alex quickly filled up Vampyre's feed bin then ditched the horsebox whil the huge stallion threw a fit. Kicking and screaming. Liberty was still dozing. Moon was, too. Syra's other horse Mourn had been killed.
The jockey, Ira Willows's horse killed the beautiful grey mare. The hall of famer promised Alex's cousin a new horse. She hadn't got on yet. In the last stall stood Alex's Arabian, Storm. He was the horse Sawyer rode in search of Black. Alex rubbed his cheek "If only I could ride you." he whispered. Storm didn't know many commands. He only knew one. Go.
He was bred to run, built to run, and wanted to run. Storm was more horse than Alex could handle. If the boy wanted to go fast well, Storm was his mount. Alex gave his cheek a pat and moved onto the the final of the horses. Kenya.
The zorse poked his striped head out of the stall door and nickered a greeting. Sawyer bought Kenya for fifty thousand. The hybrid was worth a lot of money. Alex stroked the large head and muscular neck.
OK, now that everyone was taken care of, Alex could check the round pen! He whistled to his dog with a tug, they were off. Bean pulled on the leash, wanting to stiff every horse, human, or dog in sight.
Alex dragged him along. Until finally there in the round pen stood a tall Irish Sport Horse Stallion. His coat so dark it almost looked black. But, he was indeed a bay. A lot of people mistook him for a deep brown or black.
Alex knew this horse...What was he doing here? On the black leather halter was a piece of paper, tucked between the halter and the horses cheek. Alex hopped the fence, tying Bean down so he wouldn't run off. Alex moved toward the beautiful stallion. Only to have him trot the other way. Oh yes, this was definantly Ace.
Alex chuckled and jogged after the stallion. Reaching to grab his withers. Ace threw his head and cantered around the round pen, Alex standing in the middle, laughing. This horse was always playing hard to get! It was funny.
Finally, the horse stopped and just watched the boy. Alex stayed where he was but, he held out his hand. Ace didn't move for a moment but, he slowly took a few steps toward Alex and stopped right in front of him. Giving up!
Alex chuckled ad quickly grabbed the note before Ace could bolt. Which he did. He jumped and trotted around Alex toward Bean. Reaching down to sniff the dog.
"So, you finally caught him? Well. You remember Ace! He;s been my horse for seven years now. I decided that I'd give him to you, son. I pray that you'll take good care of him! Like I said. Keep your chin up. Good things come in this world. Even if it comes with a price."
It was an honour to have one of Dr. Contaro's champion stallions. It really was. The doctor won many competitions with this horse. Alex only rode him once. He was a smooth ride, very easy. A good horse all around. The sport horse bobbed his head and snorted, as if saying: "Are you just gonna stand there all day? Come catch me!"
Alex laughed and took a giant step toward the equine. Of course he thought it was a game! Everything was a game fore Ace! He played like a colt! He swished his tail and stomped a hoof as if saying: "Is that all you got?"
Alex crossed his arms and pouted. The stallion whickered softly and stepped toward Alex, sticking his muzzle in the boy's face. Alex wrapped his arms around the toned neck and smiled. Letting his hands run over the silk coat.
Yeah, Dimonte was the dad he never had. Ace began to lip at the back of Alex's neck making te boy burst into a heap of laughter. Yeah there it is Shady Lane! Alex was laughing. Not a nervous laughter, but a full throated laugh. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Safe Inside Myself. Are All My Thoughts of You. A light moan escaped her as she herd the raging beeping of her alarmclock startle her from her deep sleep. Grunting she slammed her hand down on her alarm clock which read 6:30. Grunting, her small patit frame rolled over, under the two large horse quilts. Taking a small amount of sleep out of her bright emerald eyes, still surounded by heavy make-up the night before. Getting up, a golden retreiver quickly came over to accompany her Hey Shadow. Lyrics escaped raspy from screaming lastnight. Stroking the canine's head, she quickly moved into the bathroom to see how monsterous she looked this morning. Ahh. Not that bad. Her hair was still properly back combed, alittle baffled from sleeping, and her make-up wasn't even half bad. Quickly brushing her teeth, she couldn't stand the left over taste of alchol sitting in her mouth. Her tounge almost feeling furry. After brushing her teeth, she quickly slipped into the shower, and took off the makeup, and hairspray in her hair and on her face. Slipping out, she wrapped a bright purple towel around her and put a matching towel on her head to dry off her hair. Getting changed into her black training jods, and then a white fitted shirt that had shorter sleeves only to the elbow, and then the orange vet on top, that was rather bright. But god, no one could loose her, or run into her in the arena. And she liked having eyes on her. She then slipped on her ropers/paddock boots and tied them up before adding the black half chaps and then the simple, light spurs, only to help her manouver the horses around the ring.
So, she was staying in a small apartment building right now, just until she could find somewhere else to stay, and it was big enough for only her, and Shadow. The canine creature that fallowed Lissy around like a little shadow. Sitting down on the counter, so Lissy could see herself in the mirror, she let her hair down and watched it go into a instint curl. Huffing miserably, Lissy just put it in two low pony tails and then fixed her makeup. she was a huge eyeliner freak, but she never pushed it to the extreme. Did she? Walking out of the appartment building, the golden canine fallowed, trotting beside Lissy as the neared the large black cummins deisel dually, along with a white new, gooseneck horse trailer hooked up to the back of it. The trailer was emty as it already had the horses at the barn, but for now, she had to take up a few parking spots until she found a place to park the large, expensive horse trailer.
Moving swiftly, as she opened the door of the truck, the canine jumped in and sat in the back of the truck, and waited until the engine came to life. Lissy fallowed lightly, her short frame pulling herself in before she got comfrotable, then turned the truck on, listening to it beep, and beep some more before the acual engine kicked in. Smiling lightly, she turned on the radio, waiting for the weather reports, and quickly, got herself out of the parking lot and toward the barn. About fifteen minutes of driving, and going through a series of stop lights, the truck seemed to get ticked off, and decided to not stay in one gear, causing it to not stop, so half way through lights, and having to stop, she ended up stalling the beast, and then having to start it up in gear. Cursing the peice of metal, she finally got onto the road, free of stop light and turned into the drive-way of Shady Lane Ranch. Still curseing the thing as it stalled at the drive way, she brought the large unit up into the parking area, and rounded the unit about, which still held alot of Boo's equitment, his saddles, his bright yellow accessories, and hay for both horses, but she couldn't bring in the hay all for herself. Putting her hands in the pocket of her yellow vest, she looked at the truck that obvisouly didn't look happy. Shadow sat neatly beside her before trotting off toward the barn, stopping and sniffing other dogs, and behaving herself wonderfully.
Her hands full of equitment, she brought the tack into the barn, almost running into a male who was visiting many horses along his way. Putting the tack in her spot, she was able to get twice as much room since she proved to the banr owners, she had a lot of crap for the horses. Putting the saddles on the saddle rack, and putting blankets and everything into the plywood box that she brought with her, and her first aid kit for the two clutz's that were in their stall. With the little hay she had brought in, she grabbed a flake and stuffed it into a hay net and then brought it out to the large sixteen hand high buckskin Swedish Warmblood stallion, that had a dark brown leather halter on it with a silver plate with his named embeded on it Desiel Escape. Kissing the large buckskin craninum lightly, Lissy quickly returned to tieing the bright oranage hay net on the stall, and then allowed the buckskin to start to feed himself. Running her hands along the buckles on the orange stable blanket that lay over Deisel's frame, Lissy smiled to see everything was good, and he still had the orange leg wraps on form him having somthing known as 'scartches' The thing that cursed the horse. Lissy know, isn't able to ride Deisel because of this infection that has spread little scratches along his pasterns of his socked hooves. Shaking her head to him, she patted his neck lightly before exiting the stall and walking across the isle way to the large chestnut gelding that stood lazily in his stalll, hind foot cocked and his neck holding his head level with his withers.
Grabbing Boo's lead shank and hooking it up to his dark brown leather halter that had his name embeded on a sleek mirrors plate reading Mega King On it. Leading the large gelding out of the stall, and just tieing him up outside of his stall, Lissy grabbed his yellow haynet and tied it up, allowing the bronc to eat while she got him ready for a exercise. Running the brushes over his slim body, which was filled with muscles from all the exercising, she was finally beginning to tack up. Grabing the floresent orange saddle pad, she placed the sqaured saddle pad on the equine's back and then put the dark brown all purpose english saddle on him. Then got the dark brown breast plate, along with his bridlea nd then grabbed the orange german martingale and hooked all these deviceses together, and checked the girth one last time before moving onto the orange and white leg wrappings for his exersice.
Finally finishing up his tacking, and he was beginning to finish up his food, Lissy thought about it, she never really wore a helment during practise, a bad habit considering she lost her memory when she was twelve, and she cant remeber anything when she was younger than twelve, but she still had a good trust for these two boys. Checking the girth one last time, Lissy nodded and smiled to the equine, and gave a good stroke on the chestnuts neck, before pulling the reins over his crown, and his mouth began to chew uncomfortable with the french link snaffle in it. Finally, Lissy brought the gelding out of the barn and towards the arena, atleast for just a nice and easy warm up, maybe. Her plans slightly crushed when she found a male and his horse in the round pen. Smiling lightly, Lissy hopped on Mega King silently, and kept it a nice loose reining, watching her gelding watch the other equine move. Shadow fallowed excitedly before noticing the other dog. Quickly moving in on the dog, Shadow whined lightly as if saying hello, and then sniffing the canines nose. Lissy's hair seemed slightly loose, so she just left it in two low pony tales, her head naked from any protection she should have been wearing. Handsom man. Lyrics escaped fluently, the Sweish accent hearable, and it got queit a bit of attention around her. Scanning over the large equine in the round pen, she took her glance of the horse, awaiting the response from the male, if she got one. Can You Hear Me? Can You Feel Me in Your arms? Holdin My Last Breath... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Alex's mind was ablur from many different thoughts. Yes, he was safe here at Shady Lane. But, he was a man who commited over twenty murders in two years. What if the new people in Shady Lane reconized him? What if they turned him in!? Inwardly he began to panic. His heart beating wildly. No, the Contaro family would keep him safe! They'd fight for him. Especially Sawyer. But, at the moment, the blind man could barely lift his head.
And, if he was caught..What about Leelyn? Where would he be without her. She was really the only person on Earth who understood him. She knew how lost he really was! How much he hated so many people. But, he trusted the people at Shady Lane. That's all that mattered.
Ace placed his nose against Alex's cheek and blew warm air onto it. The boy stroked his cheek and smiled. Dimonte actually gave him THE Too Cool for School. This horse won so many competitions.
The stallion nickered at Bean who was watching his surroundings. He must watch his master, protect his master. Proove he was a good dog! YES! Alex smiled at the pretty spotted canine. He had his animals, right? His mind went to his Arabian stallion, Storm. The stud only wanted to run. And, Sawyer said that he should race him. Yes, that's what he was going to do!
Bean sniffed the other dog, his tail wagging happily. Ace trotted off to greet the gelding. Alex hesitated, other horse meant, people. Well, maybe he knew this person. Slowly, he turned his body to face someone knew. He heard what she said and his heart stopped. He didn't know her! Could he trust her? Her voice sounded like a cat's purr, also accented. His face held every horror filled emotion there was. He took deep breaths, as his expression showed, fear, confusion, shyness. Hazel eyes wide.
His muscles were tight, looking as if he were ready to flee like a deer. In fact, that was exactly what he was wanting to do. And Alex, he was fast. No, maybe he could trust her. But, he wasn't going to. "Uhhhhhhhhh......T-thanks" he stuttered, unsure. To trust, or not to trust. That's the question. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Safe Inside Myself. He hands remained completely relaxed as she felt Boo strech his neck out toward the bronc, his nares inhailing the other equines sent before relazing his neck muscle and wickering toward the male. Shadow barked lightly, trying not to spook the equines around her. Bright pools shot from the horse back to the male, so he owned this prize whining. Ahh, Too Cool for school, good horse. Lyrics purred agian lightly before shuffling in the saddle, and side passing the large bronc over toward the other, with the flinch of her heel. Extending her hand out to the large stallion, before Shadow barked again. Putting her hand down she shuffled Boo a safe distance fromt he fence again, a brow raising towards the male Everything alright, you seem, nervous. Lyrics escaped again, Sweden accent becoming more clear. Tencing lightly as she felt Shadow move around Boo. Boo tenced and bent his neck, head dipped in toward his chest, as his stance was ready to take off, but the firm grip that Lissy held in her hands stopped him. Shadow whinned slightly, almost as if she was annoyed about the other dog being tied up, and limited to the space the canine could move.
Her eyes scanned him once more, almost taking a mental picture of him before sliding off, Boo was starting to get more ansy, esspecailly around the new bronc. I'm Lissy, Lissy Labombar, I just came here from Sweden. And you may be.... Lyrics questioned out toward the male, a small smile appearing, her energy rising lightly since she was off Boo, but she kept it fairly mellow aware of the other horses, and how esily the pray animals spooked. Boo Snorted and shuffled for comfort, his head hanging over the round pen's fence, watching the other horse, and the male that was inside the round pen. Before the familar sound of a whinny came to her ears spinning around she noticed that the bandaged buckskin bronc was out in pastures. Oh my god, are you for real. I thought I told them to not let him out because he was lame. She thought back to when she told the stable hand, but she wasn't going to make a fuss about it. The Swedish Warmblood could use the roughage for his weight anyways. The large buckskin brute stood at the corner of the persture, looking over to his best friend, Boo. Maybe the trail ride would come before heavy works. But hey, who knows. The bandaged buckskin threw his head over the fence and whinnied again, causing Boo to turn his head and wicker back, before returning to his mellow stance, his head resting on the fence, almost falling asleep. Can You Hear Me? Can You Feel Me in Your arms? Holdin My Last Breath... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Ace's neck streatched out to sniff the odd smelling male horse on the other side of the fence. Alex moved slow as he approached his new horse. He touched his rump when it came into reach. The stallion nickered in acknowledgment that he knew where his knew rider was. Alex stroked the incredibly dark bay silken shoulder of the amazing jumper and eventer.
He eyed the younger woman with keen eyes, still wary of her presence. He looked at the sandy ground when she spoke of his nervousness. "I uhhhhh." was all that escaped past his lips. He had serious trust issues! The worst. He hesitantly lifted his head when she introduced herself. Would it be impolite not to respond? Yes, it would. If only Sawyer was here. His friend would always have his back!
Ace lifted his head and whinnied a greeting to the lame stud close by. Alex took a deep breath. "I-I'm Alex. My last name isn't important...Neither is anything else about me. Welcome to Shayd Lane." he spoke quickly and in one breath. His teeth snak into his bottom lip as he looked away again. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Safe Inside Myself. Are All My Thoughts of You. Her brow arched at his nervousness. It reminded her of something. Somthing, someone. she thought a moment Deisel. Trust issues. She shuffled to res ton her right foot as she looked at the buckskin who was pushing on the fence, eager to meet the other bronc. She quickly took her weight off her right leg as pain came back to it, reminding her about her accident with the Thoroughbred back whens he was twelve. Leaning on her equine, Lissy stroked the chestnuts pelt before shadow ran over to the fence. One thing Shadow didn't learn. Never go near Deisel, he has a fear of dog. Squeals, Deisel kicked out to the fence, smashing his hind feet on the boards of the fence. Tencing Lissy whistled for Shadow to come near. Rolling her eyes she hopped on Boo, and trotted toward Deisel and chased Shadow away from the the buckskin equine. She wasn't out of balance, considering she wasn't riding with out her stirrups, and Boo was still rather bumpy as he had a bit of a high shoulder. Deisel, seriously?! [/b] Lyrics escaped as she opened the gate intothe field and had the buckskin walk out, still hugging Boo's side as the two equines walked back to the round pen. Deisel hugged Boo's side, and refused to leave it. His 16. 0 hand high frame mostly hidden from the orange silk blanket and then the bright orange leg wrappings that only covered three of his legs because of the scratches. Coughing lightly, Deisel snorted and looked to the guy in the round pen, giving a nervous look toward the male. The buskin turned and stood behind Boo, almost as if the chestnut bronc could hide the stallion. Oh, and this is Boo, and this is Deisel. Lyrics escaped toward the male queitly, pointing out each horse while she said their name. Shadow ended up whinning one last time before trotting into the round pen and jumping up on the males legs, trying to lick his fingers. Boo started to get ansy again and the firmness on the reins came back as the chestnut Hanoverian started to prance around, sending the buckskin Swedish Warmblood over to the fence of the round pen sniffing the ground before going away a short distance, and then just standing there, watching the others. Finally, lyrics came again, but it was fluent swedish Ge sig Megabyte Kung Lyrics escaped swiftly. Probably more swiftly than she could speak english. The brute's ears flicked back and he stood, head held as high as the german martingale allowed him, and awaited for his work out, ears flickering around to listen for Deisel, and yet, for the most part the large equine shallowed his back and kept his head held high, ears back annoyed.
