FiRST COME FiRST SERVE
ah the season of fall. one of alyssa's favorite seasons. well, her only favorite season. winter was terrible, summer was too hot, spring was too alergic. fall was perfect. the trees transforming their colors as they prepare for the chilly winter. the sunsets that set delightfully nearly every single night of the week. there was nothing more perfect then a sunset ride in the fall on a trailhead or even on the meadow. it was now that alyssa was ready to ride. her spirits high and strong. she was ready to start new. a new home, new friends, new barn, a bunch of new horses to meet. she could barely wait to get started. so let's go!
alyssa pulled up to the barn and got out. this was her third time here today. hopefully tomorrow there'd be no running back and forth from one place to another. hopefully she could just stick around here for the whole day. take care of her horses and meet fellow horse lovers. but mostly take care of her horses. gunner or boaz? the question was in her head constantly throughout the day. she could either ride, or work with boaz and get him a bit of time. in the end, alyssa chose gunner. a good ride would do both of them good. boaz would need some time to get used to the new enviornment anyways. he was probably new stressed from the move to even think about picking a fight.
so alyssa walked into the barn wearing her boots and chaps and carrying her helmet. she usually forgot her helmet when she rode, but she would attempt not to today. gunner was outside in a paddock along with a few other geldings. alyssa grabbed his halter and lead rope and hurried to get him. he nickered delightfully and trotted towards the gate, greeting his mistress with a smelly snort. alyssa giggled and climbed up and over the gate and landing on gunner's back. the other geldings looked up from their meals and watched. alyssa still had the halter around her shoulder but convinced gunner they would go without. she reached over, unlatched the gate, and guided gunner outside, being sure to close the gate back up before they left.
before entering the back alyssa dismounted and put the halter on. she led gunner into a wash stall and brushed him down quickly, then placed the english jumping saddle and pad on his back. she'd go without a bit today. he hadn't been ridden for a while and was just as excited to go jumping as alyssa was. she threw the lead rope over and attached it to the oppsite side of the halter then led him out to the arena where there were already some jumps set up. alyssa wouldn't mess with them. they were just perfect and if needed they could go out on the trail and jump a few cross country courses. she mounted gunner and picked up a collected trot around the outside of the arena.
a few times around in each direction and alyssa eyed the small crossrail near the center of the arena. she picked up a faster trot with gunner and went over it, cantering afterwards. alyssa re-directed the lead as she changed directions and aimed for the vertical near the edge of the arena. gunner cleared it perfectly. the two were like the last two puzzle pieces in a 1000 piece puzzle. perfect match. alyssa looked at the oxer on the other side of the arena, standing at about 5 foot 5 inches. she squeezed gunner into a quicker canter and flew over the jump again. she slowed back down to a walk and gave gunner the rein. there'd be more to come before the sun set. they walked around the arena. alyssa grabbed the stirrups and folded them over the saddle. no stirrups this time.

It's our last chance to share the stagebefore we go our separate ways It's our last chance for us to shineto bring the music one more time! ---------------------------------------------------- Even the smallest of horses could make a dfference. Like a pony, small yet strong. They moved just like horses, they looked just like horses...They were horses. It seemed that everyone in Shady Lane didn't...approve of her horse. He was small, yes but, he was a better horse than all these bigger animals. Sure, he was the smallest horse here, standing a little over 13hh. Did that really matter.
Once again, she was being laughed at. Big idiots on big horses looked down at her and laughed so hard. She hadn;t made any friends at the ranch yet. She reall didn't need friends! If they had something against ponies, they were stupid and needed to get a brain. Narrowed eyes glared up at everyone who looked down at her. She nudged her Fell geldiginto a smooth trot. He was just like a mini Friesian, so beautiful.
What no one knew was that she did own a larger horse; it's not like they really cared anyway. Her Akhal-Teke stallion was taken out often but, not as much as Skip. Her fingers knotted with the thick mane as she grimaced at others. She never really spoke to strangers. She just kept on moving, no wonder she didn't have any friends.
More laughter as she approached the arena, mumbling angrily to herself. Skip nickered happily and launched himself into a slow canter toward a low two foot jump. Zahara took it with stride as they took flight. When she jumped, she felt like she was flying. Like her horse could spread wings any minute and take to the skies.
She was aware of someone jumping those really high jumps.Yeah right! Zahara and skip could just crawl rightunder if possible. All she had to do was duck. The littleblack gelding whnnied a greeting, cantering elegantly to the next jump. Zahara kept her mind on the obsticals, not on the person on the "horse". Aware that, like everyone else here, she might have something against her pony. They only pony to dare set hoof in Shady Lane

it hadn't been long until alyssa noticed another rider. there had been a few in the indoor arena and someone lunging their horse in the round pen. but she hadn't seen anybody else outside until now. as she allowed gunner some walking time, alyssa observed the girl and her pony enter another arena with much smaller jumps. makes sense, she was riding a pony. alyssa remembered her first pony. tricky was his name. he was a little red dun welsh pony, and a big brat, although very cute. most ponies were like that. they look so innocent and childish, but most of them are really evil deep inside. alyssa remembered tricky as the 'demon pony.' she chuckled at the thought.
gunner tripped a little and alyssa patted his neck. she looked up just in time to watch the girl and her pony jump over a crossrail. pony jumps were tiny and funy, but looked nothing like horse jumps. alyssa always found it amusing. she jumped another one and observed the girls posture. it was well done. gunner whinnied delightfully and alyssa laughed a little and clucked for gunner to trot. she collected the reins in her palms and made sure gunner's nose was tucked in and not sticking way out. a vertical was placed in front and alyssa asked for a canter. with ease gunner accepted and leaped over the vertical, slightly knocking at the top pole. pick your feet up gunner. she said and looked towards the next jump.
it was the oxer she had jumped earlier. alyssa squeezed gunner's sides to wake him up a bit so he would maybe pick his feet up this time. the sun was beating down hard on the arena which was probably draining gunner's energy. but they had just started and if needed, alyssa would spray down the chestnut gelding after the ride. they flew over the oxer, alyssa making sure her hands were placed up towards his ears and her heels down with her back straight. she had jumped for the past five years in counting. she had all the guidelines, and a few extra hints, covered. there was always the occassional mistake though. gunner snorted as alyssa circled him in a large circle then slowed to a trot near the other arena.
the girl had jumped a few more. alyssa wasn't usually the one to start up a conversation. but she had made a goal that she would meet new people. afterall, that's mostly why she had moved. that, and to get away from her parents. but the only way to meet new people was to be the first one to talk. alyssa waited until the girl was in hearing distance then she yelled nice jumping on that pony.
she said with a smile. alyssa patted gunner's neck and allowed him his head. she waited for the girl to reply to her. alyssa was known to be controlling on how to ride. she wants to be a riding instructor once she's done with boaz, but that might be a while. she thought about her black warmblood stallion. there was a lot of work to be done with him.[/blockquote][/blockquote][/blockquote]

Zahata went in stride and gave her pony's neck a gentle pat. "Something wrong, bud?" she chuckled lightly. The stubborn gelding snorting before moving into a slow walk around the arena. She worked her mount hard the day before and well, he deserved a break. Didn't he? Maybe just a light workout.
She looked over at the girl and her horse, making her think of her stallion Akhal-teke. She hoped Illusion didn't feel abandoned. He got plenty of love. But, with two horses, the Fell pony was her favourite to ride! She took note of the lady's form. Pretty good. But, Zahara was new in the jumping world!
She listened to her comment, bot sure if it was a commpliment or sarcasem. She offered a half smile "Thanks, same for you." she said softly and quietly. Feeling oddly shy and..out there. She screamed angrily in her head. She wasn't really a shy person...Was she?

the pony had resigned from jumping the jump and the girl allowed her pony to not have to do it. if that happened to alyssa, she would surely turn around and go over it again. she wouldn't let her horses get away with skipping a jump after asked. but she didn't pay too much attention to it. maybe there was a good reason that they missed it. she would probably never know. gunner, her chestnut gelding, was merging his way over to the rail of the arena, closer to the others in the arena next door. alyssa yanked her rein away from the rail, not allowing her warmblood gelding to get away with anything. ever since she had gotten boaz, she hadn't been the nicest person.
that's when she remembered the dark stallion. he was such a pain in the butt and whenever she worked with him she would only get frustrated. she didn't mean to take some of the anger out of gunner. he was the good boy. he always did what alyssa asked without any disapproval. she loved him for that. if gunner wasn't like that, she would probably have to get rid of either him or boaz. thank goodness he was such a good boy and an amazing mover under the saddle and over the jumps and in the show ring. alyssa wondered when her next show would be and when they could compete again. after the move, everything has gone everywhere and she hadn't been that organized that much.
she halted her tall chestnut at the rail near the girl. alyssa didn't mean to be too forward if she was being. the girl wasn't talking that much. but alyssa was sort of desperate for friends right now. she had met absolutely nobody when she got here except for boarding her horses. but that wasn't much of a friendship relationship. more like acquaintences. alyssa gave the girl a nice smile and observed her riding. she really wasn't bad. i'm alyssa. this is my boy gunner. what's your name?
she asked with a curious smile across her face. gunner began to chew the bit, but alyssa let it happen today. he did it all of the time anyways. it was just a bad habit. oh well.[/blockquote] note; wow... this took forever! i'm so sorry! lol[/blockquote][/blockquote]
