The sun was threaten to rise above the clouds, and with each effort, a tentacle of clouds would glow a brilliant skin of oranges, reds, purples, and even the lightest blue. Birds were waking a ruffling their feathers, and singing a song to there friends, late young, and ending mates. An eagle flied over head, its white head being tainted purples and blues, and the tips of it wing feathers scarlet like the sky. It would fly for a few more hours scouting for any rodents that had yet to go to hiding, and this afternoon it wouldn't find any. Settling in branch instead for an afternoon nap later in the day. But for now, it was dawn of a new day. The whole world was taking color, and the leafy trail was waking up. A fox darted across the trail, and the newly purple horse huffed at it, nostrils flared but otherwise enjoying the awakening. He pawed the ground with his fore-hove and let out a morning snort. Jostling his hind quarters, he told Alexis he wanted to move. He made a great arena pony, but he was breed to run across deserts. Not to prance in a ring with tall fences and possibly taller hurtles.
Alexis leaned down and wrapped her arms around his neck. Atlas's black coat shone blue and purple in the sun, picking up on his actual skin color. He always put her safety first, even on ground believe it or not. He would never jostle her enough to harm her, and right now she felt perfectly at ease. She pushed her petite face into his neck and breathed in his musty horse scent. The stallion flicked his tail and walked on loosely. He was dressed in an old, worn in western saddle and an ear lope bridle. Alexis didn't like covering him in un-necessary tack. She knew people that would put tie downs and martingales and collars and packs all on one horse. Today, she only even had front tendon guards on him. She laced her hands together at the base of his neck and he sighed and dropped his head a little lower with her added weight. He paused and craned his head to his shoulder and blew a lung full of air into her face. 'You done yet?' Alexis giggles and kissed his nose and leaned back into the western saddle. She gather the split reins into one hand and nudged him into a smooth lope down the trail. He bobbed his head after a bit, and flicked his ears front and back. 'Please?'
Alexis tightened the reins a tad and leaned forward into a tight 2-point. She tightened the reins so they wouldn't flop around on his neck. "Ready?" She breathed into his tilted back year. He canter flattered, waiting for permission to raise it up a notch. His head bobbed, and he pulled against the bit, coals starting to come alive in his veins. "Y-EAH!" He sprung onto the ground, coming alive from beneath her, his muscles rippling against the rising sun and his ears being blown back against the wind as hard as he tried to tilt them forward. Alexis' eyes watered and happy tears ran across her cheek. She ducked closer into his neck to allow him even faster. It felt bloody good, she had to agree, to be out of the arena.
