Joshua led his new mare into the round pen, she was saddled and the bridle was on the western saddle's horn. The mare had a halter on and Josh had her on a lunge line and he had a whip in his hand. Behind the horse and cowboy was LuLu, Josh's great dane. He got the two animals from the shelter. The mare was over 16 hands and a pretty Sorrel color. Josh pointed with the hand that held the line and Daisy started walking that direction. Not long was she walking when he asked her to trot. She moved smoothly, like war power in grace, it was really amazing. Josh had on his broke in work cowboy boots, some faded wrangler jeans and a white muscle shirt with his dirty cowboy hat. Lulu came at layed down next to Josh's feet and let the horse run around him.
After Daisy looked warmed up Josh asked her to lope, she was a quick mover but mainly because she was so big, her stride was naturally long. Josh could not help but smile. He only had Daisy for a day and she was so perfect for him. Josh let her stop and come into him and he put on her bridle. He hung the lead and halter on the top bar of the round pen and he led her around a little bit. He had her in a D-Ring snaffle bit with his western tack, he hated useing curb bits on horses unless it was a tomb thumb and even then he will avoid it if possible. Josh stopped Daisy and he mounted up, he started with a slow walk around the pen, the other direction of how he was lunging her. He needed to work her in both directions.
