Noises stirred into the air. The sound of shuffling feet lifted dirt, and created a cloud of tan that swirled in the air in front of the girl. Her face was contorted into one of sheer anger from what had recently happened. She kicked at the dirt angrily with her black English boots. I hate hearing people. She mumbled under her breath as profanities were inaudible as she kicked the ground multiple times. Her green eyes were possessed by anger, and she clenched her fists. She had gone to a store to get something, but the man couldn’t understand her, and she couldn’t understand him. He had a moustache, and she couldn’t read his lips for the life of her. She made a gesture for pen and paper, and he seemed to not understand that. She had left that store with an exasperated groan when she wanted to scream, but she refrained from it. Behind her trailed a gray mare. With no tack on her back or even on her white masked face, she followed her like a giant mutated dog. She nickered towards her gently, but loud enough for her to hear. She turned on her heels, making her boots squeak. Her tan breeches conformed to the lower half of her body.
The mare jerked her head up slightly, but lowered it to stare into her green eyes. Skylar stared at her reflection in those mocha brown eyes. Expressed in those eyes was the hidden malice that appeared whenever she had left, and been left numerous messages that her mare had either bit them or attempted to. Skylar hadn’t believed it, but she had to remind herself that her mare was untrained. The brown eyes stared back at her and were soft and gentle; however a wild spark was flickering dimly behind those evident emotions. Skylar’s angered face loosened into a solemn expression. With a look of understanding, she exhaled heavily into the air. There seemed to be silent words exchanged between them, but Skylar was still boiling over the event. She should have been used to it by now. She adjusted her white t-shirt with a look of subtle irritation. Her hearing aid batteries squealed loudly. Skylar’s face scrunched up as she quickly lifted her slender hands up to her ears. She parted her curly blond hair, and adjusted the frequency. The squealing subsided, and the mare didn’t even spook. She was used to it by now, but at times it caught her off guard.
Skylar stopped at the entrance of the racetrack. Why had she come here anyway? She had been aimlessly walking from a trail, and eventually found her way here. She observed the track for a moment. She walked over the metal fence, and jumped up on it with a little bit of struggle. She was only five feet even, and well, tall heights were not something she could easily reach up to. She swung her feet, and stopped when Serenade stopped in front of her. Her gray colored coat gleaming in the sun despite the fact that she had been rolling in dirt for almost the entire day. On her gray colored coat were lighter gray spots that accentuated her belly. Her face, however was white, and reminded Skylar of a mask. Serenade’s gray mane and tail were tangled and wild much like her temperamental demeanor. Serenade walked up close to her, and nickered at her. Her mocha eyes gazing from Skylar to the track. Skylar sighed to herself, but knew what her 15.3 hand mare wanted. Secondhand Serenade wanted to run and let off some steam. That sounded good, especially when Skylar was brooding over the event that occurred this morning. It would be nice to forget about the hearing world that she had been rejected from harshly. Serenade walked as close as she could without knocking Skylar from her seat. Skylar cupped Serenade’s masked face in her hands. And let her left hand gently stroke her face. Serenade closed her eyelids as she moved her hand over her face, and relaxed entirely.
Five minutes had passed, and Skylar stopped. Serenade’s ears flicked back in confusement, but lightened up when Skylar jumped off her seat. Gazing up at her mare with a small smile forming on her pale pink lips, she backed up a little. With a running head start, she jumped up onto the back of her wild mare. Serenade whinnied as she landed gently onto her back. Skylar had to do something because she didn’t always bring a mounting block with her 24/7. Serenade snorted and without a command had been sent into a gallop. Skylar leaned forwards, and her hands were tangled into her mane. She smiled to herself at the thrill and the excitement. Serenade hated tack, and Skylar had temporarily given up on breaking her in. For now, she was content with riding her bareback, and she knew well enough that Serenade was more than ecstatic with that. Her Lustiano cross bred mare moved fluidly across the dirt turf.
Serenade stopped abruptly halfway around the track. She tossed her head and whinnied loudly. Skylar was almost thrown over her head, but she regained her balance quickly. She pounded the dirt with her front hooves angrily, and her ears were laid back. What is it? She asked, and followed the direction of where she was staring. Serenade had spotted a wild rabbit, and she must have mistaken it for a snake somehow. Easy, girl. She whispered, and felt her muscles slowly release. She gently squeezed her sides, and Serenade trotted with liquid movements back to their starting position. She wanted to run more, but she would listen to Skylar. She didn’t want her to be mad again. She was no fun when she was mad. She stopped next to the metal fence, and Skylar smiled as she slid from her back, and carefully sat down on the fence again. Thanks, Serenade. She said gently, kissing her face before she stroked her again in contentment. Serenade nickered at her, and pressed her muzzle against her hand as she proceeded to pet her.

A breath. A heartbeat. Open eyes. Close eyes. A drop of sweat trickles down her temple, but it's just one of the many gleaming on her body. Roxanna was guarding her life preciously. Black was not happy. At all. In fact, he was in a blind rage now. And Roxanna was trapped in the round pen him. He had already bitten her, deeply, her whole upper arm a gaping wound. On top of that, she had not been fast enough to escape one of his kicks. But thank God, it had not been full force. As it happened now, she just couldn't feel her leg.She was screaming and she was sure nothing in all of Hades had ever made so much sound. He was moving so fast, just a obsidian blur. Roxxy was crying, terrified. She was screaming, but no words were coming out.
And with the bucking, and running, and charging, Roxxy was a small ball in the very center of the ring, not able to move, for it she did, Black would charge her. He had not sense of love for her or anything. In such rages, he would kill. But then, the stallion bolted towards her. Roxxy screamed, shrill and horror encasing it. She dodged him, barely, and limped towards the ring. Her breathing was heavily and she was covered in grime and grit and sweat. She could hear his angry bellow and his pounding hooves. She screamed and pushed off of her good leg to dive between the bars. It was like an arrow going through a hoola-hoop; her dive clean. She landed belly down and rolled from there.
She didn't move for a while. But slowly, her body showed signs of movement. She was sobbing. Black had not been that angry, that terrifying, that gruesome since he was in the auction for slaughterhouse. There had been lots of stallions, and their scent had drove him to madness. Like he was now. She rolled on her back and she immediately let out a shriek of agony. Her skin had been laid open to the bone by Hell's teeth on her right upper arm. And now there was tiny filaments of dirt and rock in there. And her total leg was numb with pain. As it were, she didn't know which injury to grab. So, she just settled for silently crying and laying in a gather pool of blood.

kylar had been silent as she stroked her mare, and Serenade remained silent as well. Words were exchanged without the utterance of a single word. They simply understood each other when no one understood Skylar. Serenade was the only one who could understand her, and Skylar was grateful for that. She had left all her deaf friends back home, and no one here had ever talked to her. Perhaps it was better that way, after all Skylar spent a great deal of her time buried in her books and her mind. Talking to others was out of the question, and would never be thought over, however she couldn’t help but think to herself… Did she have some neon sign that said “Do not talk to her.” She might as well just walk around town with a sign strapped to her that would say “I’m DEAF” in Sign Language. She liked to keep it low-key, and so far she had flown under everyone’s radar. It was what she wanted, wasn’t it? Skylar exhaled deeply, and Serenade gazed at her softly. Skylar traced her face with a single finger. Serenade closed her eyelids, indulging in the complete attention she was receiving. Patting Serenade always calmed Skylar, and she was never seen without Serenade. If she could, Skylar would sleep in Serenade’s stall. Sadly, her stall wasn’t made for two. Serenade pulled away quickly from Skylar as a scream pierced the air. She whinnied and seemed confused, and then it had sunk in. Someone either needed help, or was in some serious need of anger management. Frantically, Serenade gazed at Skylar who hadn’t heard the scream. Skylar noticed this and with no words spoken, she questioned the antics of her mare. She was tense and suggestively glanced back and forth between Skylar and where the scream had erupted from. Serenade was Skylar’s ears, and you could say her hearing horse guide. Digesting the anxiety that was displayed in her mare’s frantic attempts, Skylar rose carefully. She balanced on the white fencing, and hopped on Serenade’s back. Serenade tossed her head, and knowing that Skylar would say “Take me to the sound,” immediately galloped in the direction of the pained scream. Skylar held on tightly to her mane as she made a mad dash towards the noise. Serenade halted abruptly, which had almost sent Skylar over her head. Catching herself, she slid from her back and onto the ground. A cloud of dust billowing around her face. A few coughs and the cloud of dust subsided, and revealed a gruesome sight of blood. Almost instantly, Skylar began to feel woozy. Her vision blurring, but she blinked frantically to keep her vision in focus. She had something against blood, and not even she knew what the big deal was. Her five foot frame moved carefully, and then she saw the scene of the crime. The girl’s arm was torn open, and off to the side a stallion was angrily lashing out. Anxiously, Skylar moved forwards, and tried to swallow down the lump in her throat. And that’s when she saw that the wound had clearly made its way down to the bone. Skylar turned and ran a few steps away from the wounded and sobbing girl to throw up her lunch. It didn’t taste good the second time around. With her hands on her knees, she gave a few dry heaves before she collected herself. Shakily, she returned to the girl, and without uttering a word, had taken out a sidekick LX ’09. She dialed 911 on Relay, and had told them what she had found, and the address and their location. Flipping her phone closed, she looked at the girl, and felt sorry for her. Serenade wandered close to the stallion, but not too close, and nickered calmly towards him. Skylar snapped her head back, and watched her. Serenade. She warned, eyeing the stallion skeptically. Serenade looked over her shoulder and whickered towards Skylar. Skylar’s voice was noticeably different than what a hearing person sounded like. She was loud, and that was not intentional, and her voice was a little odd sounding which was hard to put into words. Help is on the way. She mumbled and had forced herself to speak towards the girl, and stayed near her, and tried to avoid the wound that had made her stomach churn. Her face was pale, and she listened to Serenade whinny towards the stallion in an attempt to redirect his attention elsewhere. you know it's the greatest moment of your life , and you get to experience it with one person . Roxxy was losing conciousness rapidly, but she was making a concious effort to fight. She was straining to see, to keep the darkness from entering her eyes. She had stopped crying now and was blinking her eyes, making the blurriness that had once enraptured her eyes disappear. She would not fade into the oblivion. Not with people so near to Black. She needed to keep him calm, to take care of him. He didn't mean to hurt her. He was just mad. There was a stallion that had repeatingly nudging her for attention. She had stopped her training in the round pen to turn around the caress the other stallion. And then, Black charged at the stallion, making his owner hop on him and gallop away and top speed.
She had knew it was coming sooner or later. The day when her stallion would explode. It just happened to be today of all days and she was in the round pen is all...oh, so tired.....Roxxy gasped for breathe, keeping out of the reach of that delicious blackness that threatened to consume her. She was looking up at a beautiful blond girl. She smiled weakly at her. Very briefly she caught a glimpse of the hearing aid. She was hard of hearing. That meant that she most likely could read lips. So, Roxxy looked at her with her terrified blue eyes. She said loudly, her reddened lips making the syllabyls perfectly legible. "Get your mare away. He will kill her!" And as soon as the words were out of her mouth, her head snapped towards the massive black stallion as he charged straight at the mare. Of course, there was the tall fence in his way, so he couldn't touch her, but he sure tried. He lapped his frong limbs on the top bar, making him go into a rear position.
Beating on the top metal bar, leaving deep dents, she looked at the girl. "Take us inside! He'll stop if we leave his sight!" Making an effort, knowing that the mere sight of her broken and bloody was rendering this young woman sick. She turned onto her belly, her expression a portrait of excruciating pain. But it didn't matter. I haveta get them away....haveta get them away. She made that her march as she army crawled, dragging her hurt leg along the ground and limping on her hurt arm. Still, her determination allowed her to keep a pretty good pace. She was about 100 yards away from the round pen, when she slowed to prepare herself to stand. Making sure the mare and the woman were well away from the stlalion, she shakily pushed herself up to a stand.
She limped to the side of the stable and went around the corner to lean against the wall and slide down to sit on her butt. Breathing in her nose out her mouth, her face was grim and concentrated, her eyes closed.

kylar’s stomach was tightly knotted now. Her enticing green eyes were adverted away from the blood that soaked into the earth. However, the scent of blood had been stuck to her nostrils. Her face grew lighter by each passing moment, and at times her vision would slowly go black. Yes, Skylar and blood would never mix, and she sometimes passed out at the sight of her own blood. It was a little quirk of hers, but none the less she was breathing shallowly. Where was a damn brown bag where she needed it? Skylar exhaled forcefully as if to get rid of the bad air, and she inhaled for a very long time. She was feeling light headed, and to be honest, she didn’t want to join this girl on a stretcher to the hospital. Skylar hated hospitals, and she got the creeps just by being near them. Either way, she was she attempting to keep herself calm. A deafening squeal shrieked into her ear, and Skylar rose her hand to her ears. She readjusted the frequency of her hearing aids, and she looked irritated by them. This was the thirtieth time they squealed in her ears, and it was due to the loud noises that came from the stallion. She looked down at the girl, and made sure not to glimpse at the gaping wound that made her want to faint. It was then that she began to speak. Skylar looked at her lips and made out the syllables clearly. She snapped her head around to view Serenade. Before she was able to speak, the stallion charged. Serenade turned angered, and she rose onto her rear legs effortlessly. A piercing scream erupted from her throat, and Skylar was astounded. Serenade, no! She shouted, and watched as Serenade landed. She lashed out in a few stubborn bucks before she trotted over to Skylar. Grateful that she listened, she looked into her eyes, and saw that they were burning wildly. She was staring into the eyes of a familiar stranger, and she frowned at this. Serenade tossed her head, and her ears pinned back at the obnoxious noises from behind. Exhaling, Skylar turned around to stare at the girl. She made out the syllables as she spoke again, despite the fact that she couldn’t hear her voice through the metallic ringing. She nodded and watched as she flipped onto her belly with a pained expression. If she was a few inches taller, and able to carry another, she would have done so. Feeling helpless, she followed with Serenade trailing behind her. The girl had stood and then slid against the wall, and Skylar bit her bottom lip. Her eyes adverted to Serenade as she snorted harshly through her nostrils. Without a word, she held out her hand. Serenade’s ears pricked forth, and she took the few steps closer. Her muzzle pressed against her hand, and Skylar looked relieved. She gently patted her white face for a moment. She didn’t say anything to the wounded woman. Maybe she should, but Skylar looked towards the ground, and allowed the silence to consume her. They should be here soon. She murmured, referring to the paramedics to help her heal. you know it's the greatest moment of your life , and you get to experience it with one person . ( WHO'S STANDING NEXT TO YOU?) Roxanna was very relieved when she opened her eyes and Serenade and Skyler were in front of her. She gave a relieved smile, her teeth really white compared to the dirty, blood-smudged skin of her face. She had her legs straight out, her left leg looking slightly leaning towards the left and her right leg reasting straight on the heel. She was holding her right upper arm/shoulder blade wound. She had calmed herself down. Even though she was still in pain, she was smiling, though sometimes it turned into a grimace. She looked at the young woman and her horse. She grinned broadly and it was genuine. "You have a very unique voice. I like it. It's different."
Her toothy grin became a soft smile, her eyes making tears, but they were still open and friendly, warm even. So, she was talking and forgetting the tears. "I was so afraid for you and her. Serenade is so beautiful. I would so bad if anything happened to guys. Thanks. For everything." She paused a moment, grimacing and sucking in air through clenched teeth. She took her plaid button shirt that had been tied around her waist and with a show of valiant effort, twisted both arms to tie the button down shirt as a bandage of sorts around her large wound. She was breathing heavily again.
She looked up at the young woman and gave a brief, warm smile, and said through her breaths, "I....figured I would tie it up. .....could see...it was making...you sick." It took several moments to calm her breaths back to normal. "My name's Roxxy. Yours?" She would've offered her hand but it was held captive by the gore of a red liquid called blood. She didn't think her savior would want blood on their hand when the sight of her battle injury was causing her to throw up.

kylar scoffed audibly at her remark. It was not meant to sound offensive, but she rolled her eyes. She pushed off the wall, and let her jaw line become predominant. Her voice was.. What was that word she used? Unique. Yeah… Right. She thought sarcastically, and looked off into the distance. Her breathing became more even as she focused herself on other things like that remark of hers. It swirled in her mind and echoed. Well, obviously she knew. She stretched out every syllable and made it easy for her to read her lips. She was grinning, and despite the fact that it was genuine, she refused to stare at her any longer. Her green eyes turned brooding, and she turned on her heels suddenly. They were darker and a little frightening. There’s nothing unique with my voice. That reason should be clear. That was probably the most words she spoke in a sentence, and in fact to get two complete sentences was a miracle. Her words were clipped, and though she did not intend in snapping, she had to. A guilty look came over when she turned back around. She was no longer fuming, and she mumbled a quiet sorry towards her. With a resigned sigh, she closed her eyes. What the fuck is wrong with me?! She gave a quiet groan, and she leaned back up against the side of the building. Serenade watched Skylar with a steady and worried gaze. Her eyes never left her, and Skylar looked at her. Serenade snorted and walked closer to her, and pressed her muzzle into her shoulder. She left it there, and Skylar leaned her head against her own. Serenade was motherly towards Skylar, and she was definitely over protective of her. She always worried about her, and if she was human, Skylar would be that motherly figure in her life. Being seventeen and living on your own was not all that it was made up to be. Serenade nickered gently, and Skylar absently lifted her hand and rubbed her muzzle. She let the silence sink in. It was her companion ever since she was a little girl, and therefore, she welcomed it with open arms. Sshe spoke again, and Skylar turned her head to look at her. She was crying, but her eyes looked warm and gentle whilst hers were cold and guarded. Skylar luckily caught everything she said so she would not have to make a fool out of herself. He always like that? Her question was empty and no emotion showed through, however she was confused. Why was she thanking her? She did not do anything. She watched her tie the plaid shirt around her bandage, and she began to turn pale again. She fought back the urge to throw up again, and when she finished covering it, she exhaled the breath she had been holding in. She felt queasy and woozy, and was lucky to have leaned against the wall. Skylar was too modest to even accept any praise that may have been given to her. She ignored her thank you, and tossed it away without a second thought. If she remembered later, she would probably ask her, but for now she focused on other things. If she lost Serenade, Skylar would literally be heart broken. She would not have a clue what to do with herself, and she was sure she would lose herself. The girl spoke again, however she did not catch the part where she was breathing weirdly in-between words. In fact, Skylar thought she did not say anything until she introduced herself. Skylar. The answer was short and to the point, and she looked away at Serenade. She was staring off into the distance, and her ears were alert. When the paramedics came closer it was then Skylar understood. They were arriving. you know it's the greatest moment of your life , and you get to experience it with one person . ( WHO'S STANDING NEXT TO YOU?) Roxanna looked at her, resentment building inside of her. A retort was on the way up her throat, but she bit it back, her softer, gentler, more reasonable side coming back to head. Roxxy! Calm yourself! Think about the other person. You'll hurt her feelings. You don't wanna do that, do you? She could be a good friend and there's always a reason for the way a person acts. Maybe she's the opposite of Sawyer and hates her disability...or maybe PMS...there's lots of reasons she could be acting like this. And even if she's always like this, this is her. Just be nice, like you always are! Calm....calm... Roxanna opened her eyes and looked at those brooding green eyes. Maybe she's just shy.
She leaned back against the wall again, hearing the sirens. She looked at Skylar and said with a slight smile, "Ah, well. Whether ya like me or not, well it's my nature to give credit where credit is due. And, Skylar is a pretty name. You don't hear that often anymore." She closed her eyes, not bothering to look at the girl's expression. She had chosen to not dwell immediately on the question regarding Black's behavior. Her mouth suddenly went dry. Her voice went hoarse. "No. He's angry right now. He gets angry a lot but he's never been this mad....this...infuriated. He's wild, basically untamed. He had no experience under the saddle and as for affection....I'm the only human he bothers to even try to love. But his love his never certain. He's a true wild heart. He's not afraid to kill anyone who's in his way."
Her eyes were sad and more tears were coming out. All during their conversations, Black had been screaming kicking, making all kinds of noise. As the sound of the sirens came closer, he was getting even louder, more balistic. "I have to break him in. I can't control him anymore. He has never been this dangerous, furious since I found him at the auctions for the slaughterhouse." She brought her right leg to her chest and put her forehead against her knee. The inviting darkness was coming back to get her, and her reasonable part of her mind went away to it, leaving her delirious. She sounded drunk. "Yanno?! I give my ass to Black, on a fuckin' silver platter. And this is all I get???!!! It's not friggin fair! Why can't he love me as much as I love him? Maybe God's tryin' ta teach me something?"
She closed her eyes, the venom in her expression noticable. She was noticing the dancing purple dots in her vision. She had this distant, goofy smile on her face as she suddenly went into deranged-sounding laughter. "Oh, look! They're purple. That's my favorite color, yanno that Skylar?" The loopy-Roxxy flashed her a Cheshire cat grin, then all of a sudden, it was like she didn't gave a spine anymore. She went paper-white then fell down and over, giving over to the lost of blood and the consuming blackness that had been waiting for her for so long. Her last words, were soft murmurs, but they weren't slurred. "Thanks, Skylar. Thank..you." Simply enough, she fell into a deep sleep.
