"I'm not sure. I think all Gelderlanders are like that. I've never seen one in motion and the only horse of that breed I've ever ridden is Breeze." he said pressing his lips into a hard line as he thought. He needed to read more on the Gelderlander. Maybe they did move like that. Or Breeze was simply trained to do so.
Breeze was a jumper, mostly. But he could be entered in a few driving compositions. If only Sawyer could get a really good rider for dressage. Breeze was a good horse and was mostly a lover boy that just enjoyed life with his blind punch bag friend. That and Brit and that fluffy pony thing that had sharp teeth.
Breeze whinnied happily when Sparks decided to play their old game. They always did it on the ranch when the fluffy pony was a foal. He'd have to get close enough to him. But enough to where he wouldn't step on those weird looking hooves. He did once and Sparks made a funny noise that hurt his ears so he didn't want to again.
Sawyer decided he'd just make him sit in place. Nothing bad like tackling him to the ground. He'd just have to come up beside him and give his rear a quick tap. That meant sit, and it never failed him before. For, Sparks. Sit meant there was food coming, even if it meant getting caught. But he was still going to put up a good fight. Now that there was two against one. Not fair.
Sawyer looked over and Roxxy. Not really for a reason. He wanted to know what she was doing. He couldn't hear anything coming from her but, he heard the other stallion whinny happily. Breeze responded and tossed his mane. He could get to know this horse. He responded to his mistress quickly. That mean he was a good horse.

Roxxy was glancing every so often at Sawyer and Breeze. For more reasons than one. The clarity of her vision, (that she never takes for granted anymore), let her memorize every curve of Sawyer's face and body. But not only his, but his onyx horse. It amazed her how thinking one day you might not have your vision can sharpen your eyes and be incredibly thankful. The Gelderlander didn't move any further. "So, how are we gonna stop that flyin' dog?! He can't keep up that speed for long, can he?! Starchaser have an different snort. His expression said, "No! No hairy horse alive can run faster than me!!!"
Roxxy swerved wide with Starchaser, pulling him away from the other horse. Looking back at Sawyer, she shouted before giving her horse his head, "How about I stop 'im up ahead?" Letting the reins slip through her hands, the cremello stallion under her shot at forward at an amazing speed. She could feel the wonderful, precise muscles working under and she laughed more. It was reasonless laughter that just gave clue to her exuberance. What she was experiencing was beautiful. It was how the world should always been seen, from her eyes, from her point of view.
Thinking back to the first time she got on Black's back, she had instantly flinched, still feeling the remnants of her unbelievably large bruise on her side. She still flushed at the thought of showing her tight belly at Scotty. So stupid, shouldn't have done that. But her mind guided back, providing the flashbacks. She hadn't been on him long. She had just gotten on his back and he went crazy. But what she had felt, it made the ride not so fast, not so powerful. Starchaser was strong and fast, but on Black, even the four seconds she was on him, she had experienced, raw, unadulterated power. Her cremello Thoroughbred had nothing on the obsidian stud.
And of course, because of so much power, she hadn't been ready, hadn't been prepared and with one jump, not even a buck, into the air, she went flying high and over the round pen fence, some 15 feet away, and landed directly on her side onto a bed of rocks. She was immediately taken to the hospital and had remained there the whole day, taking tests, spending money she didn't have. But the thing that so enraptured her mind is that she had never felt such power from Starchaser. As a horse in general and a large one, he was as strong as any other stallion, but he didn't have the ferocity or the majesty or the power Hell had. She wondered if wild horse's had that.
In all aspects, Hell's Black Revenge was a wild stallion. He had only one love and that was Roxxy. He craved the attention of mares, but in the end it always came back to his owner who had saved him from certain destruction. Roxxy wondered if Black would lose his fire and love other horses and people...and with a sudden burst of tenacious shock, she realized she didn't want him to really change. She loved his savagery and his adoration and love for only her. She was his, he was hers. Sure, she wanted to actually ride him, but she discovered she did not want him to love any other horse or associate with any other people willingly other than her. With a gasp, that couldn't be heard because of the speeding wind, Roxxy ended her internal discussions and focused.
Starchaser had been playing with the Sparks. He would whinny excitedly, like he had just found a lost toy, but he never once moved closer to the German Shepherd mix than a distance of 4 feet. Roxxy looked for Sawyer and when she saw him, she grinned and yelled with teasing tones, "Hey, Sawyer! I'm here!"

Breeze attempted to speed up. He did it. Just not like Starchaser He snorted irritably and went off to the left. Sawyer laughed and let the reins drop and he took hold of Breeze's mane. Sawyer knew horses had really no feeling in their mane but, he didn't care.
"Sparks is almost impossible to catch. Unless there's food involved." Sparks snorted. Why would Sawyer have food? That kid didn't eat enough. He could cook, but he couldn't eat. What was wrong with him? Simple, he was just a weird guy that liked to have fun and didn't eat enough. In Sparks's opinion. Maybe Sawyer was eating everything behind his back. Or maybe it was Sawyer's brother who was eating everything.
The two brothers did fight a lot. But that was what brothers did. They argued over everything they could think of. The worst had to be food. Someone was bound to get hurt when it came to the pair fighting over food. Normally Sawyer won the battle. But ended with a bloody nose or something. Of course Robert still ate more than Sawyer. Or he just ran it all off. So far only one brother rode a horse. That was Sawyer. Sparks didn't know what the fifteen-year-old tail puller did all day. He didn't really care anyway. He was too busy dragging Sawyer around everywhere. Even though he was really independent, he still needed to good 'ol guide dog.
Sawyer smiled "See if you can stop him. He can run right through your horses legs if you don't pay attention." he laughed slowing Breeze into a collected trot. The horse snorted. One day that mutt was gonna get kicked. He had to admit though. That pony had good speed and timing. Let's see you charge right through a running horses' legs! Sawyer half halted Breeze and listened for the sound of Spark's tags or Starchaser's now familiar hoof beats and snorts. Also the sound of Roxxy's voice that was now crammed in Sawyer's mind. Along with a million of other voices floating around.
Think of it this way. Sawyer's head was like a junk drawer filled with both useful and useless stuff. Mostly useless, something could come in handy. Like voices and smells.
Meanwhile, Sparks was teasing Starchaser. He kept trotting around the big white dog. He was making those strange noises again. Sparks yipped and barked. He got down on his from paws with his rear in the air, tail wagging. His tongue lolling out of his mouth, Panting hard. That big dog wasn't about to catch him. No way!
Sawyer heard the yips and the exited whinnies. Also Roxxy's voice. He smiled and Breeze trotted up beside Sparks who almost jumped right out of his fur. Sawyer snickered and leaned down tapping Sparks. "Sit." he commanded. Sparks couldn't help but obey. He sat down looking up with pleading eyes at Roxxy. He'd listen to her too! If she said stand. He'd stand. Than Sawyer would loose and he would win! Again!
He looked in between the two riders. They were both silent. Sawyer stared at Roxxy as if he were looking for something. Maybe they were doing some kind of human telepathy. Could they do that? Well, they had those thumb things so maybe they could.
Sawyer smiled and tossed Sparks a dog treat. The dog caught it and ate it happily. "Well the score now is: Me: 3 Sparks: 23." he cheered patting Breeze's shoulder. So what Sparks was winning by twenty points. Victory was still sweet. Breeze snorted and the dog and nudged his shoulder. Sparks growled and Breeze backed away a few inches.
Now Roxxy knew what this odd pack did during their spare time. They had crazy competitions that meant nothing. And had no use but something to do besides sit around. Plus it exercised both horse and dog in a fun way.

Roxxy smiled gently at Sparks. She pouted for him and actually got off her horse to stage-whisper in his ear. "I'm sorry Sparks! But tell you what, next time we play, I'll tell you to run as fast as you can! Shhh! Don't tell Sawyer though. It'll be our lil' secret." She winked on bright blue eye at the big dog and cupped his maws in her hands to give him a warm-lipped kiss in the dip between his eyes. Straightening up, she giggled and said in a firm voice to Sawyer, "You never heard..anythin'. Got me?" She burst into laughter.
Calming back down, she scratched the silken haired German Shepherd mix behind his ears and then went to get back up on Starchaser. She was about to jump up, when there was a vibration in her front right pocket of her breeches. Giving a quick, "Hold on." She pulled out of her pocket and leaned back again her stallion's side. Opening her phone, she immediately said, "Hello." But finding she got no answer, it lead her to assume it was a text message. She couldn't see the screen though, so she put her hand to give shade so she could gaze at the Propel's screen. "Oh, it's the owner..."
She clicked "view", and her eyes eagerly consumed the words. Looking up, her eyes were blank, then it changed to sheer joy and excitement and surprise. Her voice was very high-pitched, like she was on the edge of screaming, but she didn't because of the horses, and the happiness was in her voice. "Sawyer, Sawyer! I got the promotion!!!" She gave Starchaser a entourage of kisses, tight hugs, moved to Sparks, and then made her way to Breeze, giving him a kiss on his muzzle that was the typical, 'I'm so happy, I'm going to over-exaggerate this smooch.'

Sawyer raised an eyebrow at what she said to Sparks. He laughed when Sparks barked. What he didn't see was that Sparks gave her a big sloppy lick on the cheek. "I didn't hear anything." Sawyer beamed his blank eyes lighting up. Breeze whinnied and bobbed his head while Sawyer slipped off Breeze. He tilted his head. His neck popping.
He listened intently while she checked a text message. Something Sawyer'd never be able to do. Oh well. Not that he'd want to check a text anyway. He had ears that could almost pick up the pitch of a dog whistle. That was way better. Right? Too bad he didn't have Echo location. Now THAT would be awesome. Being able to see out of his ears. Well not exactly, but whatever! He smiled and jumped at the pitch of her voice. Damn. he thought
A promotion? Nice. If only Sawyer had a decent job. Still he felt his heart swell with happiness for her. "That's great, Roxxy!" he said listening to her travel around the horses hugging them and kissing them. Where's my hug? he thought but said nothing of it. He just smiled and enjoyed her excitement.

Roxxy looked at Sawyer and smiled one of those beautiful blushing smiles that gave witness to her white chompers. Coming closer to him, she neatly wrapped her arms around his muscled waist and put her head on his chest and embraced him tightly. Being this close to him, she could feel her heart thumping erratically. She closed her eyes and slowed her breathing. After several moments, her heart was back to its normal pace. She didn't move away, and she opened her eyes and looked up at him, her eyes twinkling.
"Hey, Sawyer? There's your hug." She chuckled and then sat her head back on his chest. "You think I'd o' forgotten 'bout you that easily? Nuh uh." She laughed more, and it shook her lightly muscled body. Sighing, she pulled away and asked softly, "Don't go too long without talkin' to me, okay? I don't want this to be the only time I see ya. I gotta go work my new shift, now, so I haveta go." She had a lop-sided grin on her face as she turned and got back on her horse.
With one last glance, she waved farewell for now, giving a cheerful, "Bye, guys!" Then, she was off.

He could actually feel her heart and the struggle to keep it under control. He smiled his arms around her torso. His hands rested on her back. He took the moment to study her body again. Trying to get a basic picture on what she looked like. Of course what he did come up with made his face turn red.
"Well I'm glad you remembered. I'm a hugable person and proud." he said cheerfully laying his head down on the top of her head. He was a hugable person. No one knew it but, you could just walk up to him and give him a great big bear hug and he'd just hug ya back without a word. Most people didn't want to go near him because he was tall and looked like a threat. Of course Sawyer knew how to fight very well. Followed his ears and what was left of his instinct.
He let go quickly when she did. His cheeks were still a little red. He smiled "I won't. You'll see me wandering around here somewhere." he said happily before adding, "Enjoy your promotion." he laughed followed by a bark from Sparks who was gonna miss his new lady friend.
Breeze whinnied to the other stallion tossing his head while Sawyer hopped on up. He sat there on Breeze like an idiot. Trying to find out where he was.
